HI
I am still trying to get some help for a friend who attempted to join after I told him about this site. His e-mail is balltown@mchsi.com. and when he tried to sign up he was told he was banned from the site. Balltown is a small town in Iowa and mchsi is not one of the free services. Please elaborate, he didn't even know about this site until last week when I told him about it.

You can thank John Fugate, the asshole who has repeatedly registered here to do nothing but harvest guns off this site and re-sell them for substantial profit. Due to this one less than ethical jerk, no more registrations will be accepted from mchsi.com.
Your friend will simply have to find another email address to use.

It would seem to me that if that is your policy it would have been appropriate to reply to my friend rather than just tell him he was banned. In light of the forthcoming national elections which will probably result in the election of a anti gun president we as gun owners need all the support we can get. I seriously doubt that anyone will change their e-mail service just to access this website.

I for one am glad that para is watching for things like this. He and the mods are watching for stuff that most of us do not even have to concern ourselves with.

I am not surprised anymore at the actions of scoundrels like the one para is talking about. I have encountered a bunch of guys like this who will do anything for the almighty dollar.

Thanks to parabellum I don't have to deal with them here too. Tell your friend to work within the rules of this site. The rest of us do.

I was required to use my isp email service by 'rimfirecentral' to register due to a problem such as the one admin mentioned. IMO not an inappropiate request.

OK, first of all, I did not tell anyone anything. The forum's software handles the registration process.

Secondly, what in the world are you talking about, bringing up all this "election, anti-gun president" stuff? What does that have to do with anything?
There are email addresses that are not allowed to be used for registration. It's as simple as that. There's no conspiracy to keep your buddy out.

Furthermore, it is not my concern whether or not someone changes their ISP. If you read what I actually said, I said that your friend would have to find another email address to use. This does not mean he has to change ISPs. There are free, web-based email adresses he can use to register here. He simply has to find one that's not restricted on this site, and the list of what's restricted here is very short.

Lastly, I don't care for your attitude, coming in here and presuming to lecture me about this site and the proper way to run things, and I strongly suggest you cool your jets before I remove your access rights, smart guy.
Just one more word from you in this thread will do the trick.
If you value your membership here it would be wise for you to stick to things you understand and refrain from lecturing the guy who is providing this venue to you.

I just got an email from your buddy. He strikes me as much of a complainer as you.
Given the poor approach that both of you have taken after I took the time to provide you with an unvarnished answer as to why I took the unusual step of disallowing registrations from a valid ISP, I just don't think I'm going to lift a finger on this. I am neither inclined nor required to put up with crap from members, and that goes double for the brand new ones.

You're not banned and I don't intend to stop your friend from registering if he's still so inclined after this. Since my remarks should leave no doubt my feelings on the matter, I won't have to listen to any more complaints or lectures about the automated proceses in this forum. You can stay or go.

Very clear yet charitable answers, Para.

Why do people think that THEY are entitled to snipe at the way you run a very nice site that YOU are paying for?

Thanks for the Forum, Para.

You're rude. The owner (Para) provides this forum which allows a free exchange of ideas, mostly from bona fide experts on Smith and Wesson revolvers. He also enables us to sell any and all gun merchandise, marketing it to an international audience, all at no charge to the seller.

And all of this without cost to you or me.
That's because he foots the bill so that you and I have a great forum.

I think you need to adjust your attitude.
