I know this forum really likes photos. I post a great deal of photos on the site because it is something I enjoy and what better to post then some good old fashioned gun porn.

Ok so back on track after a nice shot of my 29-3. I recently opened up a movie and photo hosting site. The site is still new and is dedicated to photos and movie hosting. I want to be the site that lets you post those high quality images at whatever size you want to post. I also don't rotate or delete your photos so even old post don't get red x's. Smiler

At any rate for the first two months we are doing a photo contest in which the winner will win a brand new rebel digital XT that comes with a 18-55 mm lens. This is all new and worth about $750 dollars at retail. At any rate the winner of the contest will walk away with a nice entry level digital slr camera. The rules are simple and I hope to see some of you with some of these great gun photos in the contest.

To the managment, I hope this isn't a problem. I sent an email request but got no answer. I hope since this is really to help members with photo information and hosting that this isn't a problem. I really like this site and don't want to be in trouble with the staff. So if this is a problem remove it and you have my apology.

Details on the contest are on the front page of www.moviephotoforums.com It is a real deal because I just purchased the camera out of my pocket. Smiler With only 55 current members you certainly do have a good chance and it cost you nothing.

Thanks

Max

Max,
No offense, but if you want to proclaim you are posting great photos, you need some help. I make a living at doing this, and your sign-on example is mediocre to poor from a judges standpoint. Your depth of focus is not up to snuff (would have been better to fall back a bit, get all in focus and then crop the Photo)since you are using a wide angle lens with no shift capability. When you do this correctly with a shift-tilt lens, all elements are in focus. In addition, your management of highlight and shadows is poorly done. That takes lots of experience with lots of lights or reflectors to fill shadows.
Here are two composites with images like yours, showing complete detail. Just an observation!

You should try to read what I wrote more clearly. My exact words were"I post a great deal of photos on the site" it doesn't say I post great photos.

Your images are great, I was simply posting a photo that I took in five minutes. My site is an amature site and not really a pro site. In fact we need people with your knowledge to help people even like myself. The sites true purpose is to host photos and help people take photos.

Wouldn't you rather see better photos posted with help then more like mine. Smiler

Max,
the images you are posting need a highlight and shadow adjustment in PS2 or higher. Make sure you do a levels and curves adjustment to maximize the information in the histogram. The final adjustment (if at all) should be an unsharp mask to sharpen the image.

Thanks Terry, I'll give those things a try and honestly you should sign up and post a few things on the site. You obviously know a great deal about the subject. After all it makes true high quality image hosting possible because we allow your images to be any size you want within limits of course. You certainly would be able to help as you have me already.

Thanks for the kind replies and comments about my photos. Keep in mind that one reason to join might be just to win the camera we are giving away in a contest next month. You need to get your photos posted this month and we are giving a way a digital rebel XT with a canon lens. No it's not the best rig money can buy but still a $600 dollar or so value and a great starter slr camera. So feel free to join up and try to win the camera. I know I wish I could win it. Smiler
