Great advice. I followed your steps and started posting pics without any problems.

Or it could simply be the owners of this forum choose to avoid the possibility of a virus being introduced into the forum from someone posting a .jpeg directly from a PC infected with a virus. If you don't like the method of uploading images to this forum, then don't bother because the method isn't going to change, trust me on this.

It is unfortunate that this forum does not host a photo gallery for members. Other sites have this feature. Members simply upload their photos to their album(can be limited in size by the webmaster). Members then add a title to their pic. Any time you want to post one of your album pics, you simply attach a pic from your album to your written post. Members can also search for pics by subject or members name. This is soooooo much easier and a real perk for people looking for info. Example: You want pics of Mountain Guns. Go to the photo gallery and do a search for mountain guns. This will bring up any pics that were titled as mountain gun pics by the member in their own album. You'd see a lot more pics on this forum with this easy to use feature, plus all of the pics are on this site.......not out there in the photo hosting wide wide world.........As usual........just my 2 cents!

tdan,
Can't really dissagree with your comments, but you are probably missing the real issue here, and that is cost. All those photos stored on a forum's website (server) takes up lots of storage, i.e., memory, which is a cost to the forum owner. As it is, old threads are constantly having to be deleted so that we can continue with current discussions. This site is funded out of the pocket of the owners, so the lack of photo storage (to me) is a nit. Having to pay for my own photo hosting service ($25 per year) is irrelevant to the information I can receive via this forum, the content and commaraderie gained here.
Notice that there's no advertising here, the owners get no revenue from that, nor any other source except via donations. While this is a big bonus, it isn't a regular happening, so counting on donations to fund the operation isn't something one can expect.

OK, enough with the bitching. Do you guys have any idea how much it would cost the forum each month to host your photos?? Do you want this place to continue to exist, or do you want us to go under? The day will never come, folks, when we host your photos. If you want to post photos here, you'll need to have your own hosting site.

bdGreen has advised me that the procedure to post pictures may have changed. I've unlocked this topic so that he can come in here a make the necessary edits. Please keep additional discussions to a minimum.

Thanks,
