Who has the best price? I found .44spcl 255gr $58.90 for a box of 50 at Midway. Buck a round, I guess I should break out the dies.

Check out Cabela's in FW. Don't know if they carry 44 spec, but when I was down there last week I noticed that their BB prices had dropped a bit.

ANYONE shooting a .44 Special, .45 Long Colt, etc., etc. should be reloading! Feeding the big bores will have you living under a viaduct faster than anything else, short of crack cocaine!
I agree, ammo prices are astronomical of late. Especially when they start (or end?) with the number four!

Spotteddog, that was funny, I pictured myself living under an overpass in Dowtown Dallas. I'm in the middle of a divorce so it is quite possible???!!! really though, I think I will load these. I have everything, except the bullets. Which would you recommend? I also have some Unique, my manuals are packed so I can't see if the Unique will get me to 800+fps with a 240gr. I won't shoot many as I don't want to hurt my poor little 24-3, 3" barrel. It might be worth something someday? Just in case a deer or hog walks by my blind

In my divorce, she got the house (I got the bills) and the classic Mopar's (again, I got the bills), I got the Harley's, guns, as well as a yard and garden bag full of my clothes? (Thank God and Greyhound she's gone!)
But, on to more important stuff!
You didn't mention if the 240 grain stuff you wanted to run Unique behind, was cast or jacketed? It matters. I've got a dandy for cast out of Lyman #43 for 240's.
The load I run anymore, is a 255 grain Keith SWC with a gas check. It can be made mild to wild powder dependent. From 600 FPS on the powder puff end. To nearly 1100 FPS. Though out of your short tube, I'd expect 75-100 FPS less in all loading levels. I've run all of them at one time or another. Get back to me with bullet material and in what weight.
