I just bought a M&P 340 .357/+P. I was wondering what you guys carry in your snubbies?

Speer Short Barrel .357 Gold Dots in my 360 PD. Remington 125 gr. SJHP .357s in my Taurus 605.

Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican.

Remington 125 gr GoldSabre in the midlevel .357 loading in a Ruger 2.25" SP101. That load in that gun ia quite controlable with near full house magnum power.

Whatever premium commercial JHP or LSWCHP (regular or "+P") that shoots to point of aim best, in my guns, in my hands, is my choice.

There's absolutely no substitute for trial and error in this.
It matters not who recommends what if the load doesn't shoot to POA.

In general, most snubbies are sighted for 158gr loads, though there are apparent exceptions.

The point is that nobody on a bulletin board like this one can tell you what will shoot best in your gun, in your hands. All they can do is relate their own experiences and their own choices, which may be useful to you as a guide about what to try next. Your experience may not be the same at all, however.

If your piece doesn't have laser grips get some! POA of various loads doesn't matter then. Just get whatever premium JHP or SJHP shoots the tightest groups.

Thanks for the input. I'll be trying out some of these loads. The hottest stuff I've tried is 158gr Rem. WOW! Talk about bit.

But it's a DRY recoil Big Grin

I have settled in on Buffalo Bore 158gr LSWCHP 38+p. It actually has a tad more KE and Momentum than the .357 135gr GDHPSB round...which I also carry from time to time.

Full house Magnum rounds are going to bite you hard in a 12oz J frame revolver. Speer came out with their 135gr Gold Dot Short Barrel .357 Magnum round with those revolver in mind. You will get ~1000 fps from a 2" barrel with them without beating yourself up. The people I know who bought an Airlite revolver with the intention of carrying .357 Magnum ammo have all changed over to .38 Special +P rounds instead. (I just bought a Airweight for half the price! LOL) The Buffalo Bore rounds mentioned by pps wouldn't be a bad choice except for the price. I carry the Remington FBI Load, 158gr LSWC/HP .38 Special +P. (Part #R38S12)
