Anyone have experience with Sellior & Bellot 38 spl ammo--specifically 148 gr wc ? Price at Natchez Shooters at $10.99 for 50 about as cheap as you get for target/practice shooting.

I've not had that particular loading, but I've had issues with sloppy rim thicknesses on S&B brass. Overall, it's fine - and that price seems great.

Shot-placement is king. Adequate penetration is queen. Everything else is angels dancing on the heads of pins.

I've shot it in most calibers though not .38 spl. I consider it at least as good as WWB from WallyWorld. Should be fine practice ammo.

Big bang, much smash'em.

S&B is about as good as any of the cheaper range ammo and better than some. I haven't shot any of the .38 special but have burned a lot of 45 and 9mm. If it's cheaper than Winchester white box I will buy it.

I shot a bunch of the full wad cutter .38 spec in my 586 and it was accurate and problem free. Was getting it for $7.99 a box up until the first of the yr. and it jumped up to $11.99 a box, so I probably won't be shooting much more of it.

I shoot the 38 spec S & B wadcutters in my M-14 & M-15 and they shoot quite well. if you try to reload the brass you will come across some cases that have really tight primer pockets. I would not use the cases at all if you use a progressive for that reason

I've heard the same thing (tight primer pockets) said about their 9mm and .40S&W ammunition. In fact, I've read from several members of this forum that they don't recommend S&B ammo if you are planning on reloading the cases.

Regards,

Dave

I have found the tight primer pocket a couple of times in the 45 acp. I don't reload 9 mm anymore and I don't have a 40 S & W at all anymore. I do think the loaded ammo is pretty good overall though

I bought some it a month or so ago when on sale. Only have shot about 100 rounds of it so far. Seems to be on par with UMC 158LRN and 130MC,haven't tried to load any of it yet.
I have reloaded their 357 brass with no problems. The only tight primer pockets I have ran into is in the 45ACP.
I primarily load 99% of what I shoot but when I see 45,357 or 38's on sale I usually get a case or so just to have.

I've shot S&B .38 Special ammo and have no issues to report. It's as good as any other inexpensive factory ammo.

I've also used the brass for reloading and it works fine.

It shoots fine in my 586. A friend who did some reloading for me did have some trouble with the S&B .38 brass.
