Sence winchester large pistol primers are hard to get a hold of (atleast in my part of the southwest)I'm looking to change primers. I would like some input. Thanks!

I always try to use either Federal (1st choice) or Winchester, or CCI if I can't find either of the first two. I've loaded some Remington, but only if I can't find anything else.

My local dealer has Winchester and I use that mainly. Another has Federal and I have used that from time to time as well as CCI and Federal the least.

I also like Winchester primers best. When I can't find Win primers I use CCI primers. They are just as reliable as Winchester and cost the same in most places. Federal is also a very good primer but they often cost a lot more than others and are usually the first ones to go out of stock.
I have also used Wolf and Magtech primers and they all went bang when the trigger was pulled. Sorry, I've never used Remington primers because they are usually hard to find in my area. If you don't mind ordering online in bulk you can buy from Powder Valley Their current prices for Winchester LPP are $107.50/5000, Federal LPP are $120/5000, CCI LPP are $112.50/5000, Remington LPP are $115/5000 and Wolf LPP are $90/5000. All are in stock and if you order 10,000 or so and maybe a 8 lb jug of powder you will absorb the $20 Hazmat fee without too much pain. _____________________________________________ A bad day of fishing is still better than a good day at work! - NRA Member - |

I usually use winchester, federal of cci. Which ever is available and cheaper. My personal favorite is the Winchester Large Pistol Primer.

I use whatever I can get a deal on.
Started out with CCI, went to Remington after a buddy and I got a screamin' deal on them. Used them for years and found Winchester the best deal when the Remingtons ran out. I've used Winchesters for the last few years. May buy some Wolf and try them next. "Never part with your weapons when you are in the field. I use Remington primers in everything because I decided long ago to use Remington brass. Remington primers seat better even in US military brass on the rare occasion I load some. Any primer is better than CCI IMHO.

CCI 300s have worked well for me. 350s for magnum loads.

I like the Remington 2-1/2 for large pistol. I confess though if I can't get them I use whatever I can get & they still shoot well. Frank
