Truth is, I'm somewhat iffy on Corbon ammo myself. It blows my mind that I can pay a buck and a half per cartridge for "premium" defensive ammo and it doesn't even come in a nickel plated case. Roll Eyes I recently purchased a box of .44 spl.s so that I could pull the bullets to make my wild ass .44 magnum handload. When I went to reload the brass three of the cases didn't even fit in my shellholder. The O.D. of the cartridge rim was too big.

Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican.

It's comforting to buy an expensive cartridge with a hotshot name in a pretty box. But not necessary.

A cheap soft-swaged hollow-base wadcutter (If you can find them in .45LC) handloaded BACKWARDS will give you bullet weight, velocity, incredible expansion, and lack of excessive penetration at a dirt-cheap price.

It's not target ammo, but way more accurate than you need for defensive use, and a lot more powerful than the dollar-a-copy "Specialty" ammo we like to carry.

Our American "Consumer" habits and manufacturers "Marketing Savvy" are at work with ammo as well as beer and dish soap.

(I don't expect you to believe this just because it's true.)

It's my opinion if you want good SD .45 Colt ammo you will have to load your own. I can't afford to by 20 rounds for $30+ so I load what I need.

I bought 100 Hormady 250gr .452" bullets for $26 and will load them soon and see what I come up with. It's probably the only way I could afford to practice with what I'm going to carry.

BTW, a SA .45 Colt isn't a bad handgun for home defense.
