I found this interesting pre-war box which was marketed for Colt. They had an aversion to having a cartridge named by Smith & Wesson. Same components if I remember correctly. I thought it was cool enough to show.

I think that the only difference was that the Colt Special had a flat nose lead slug and the S&W Special had a round nose lead slug.

Well - that name change didn't work out!

That was the theory. It is about the shape of a modern JHP before it hopefuly expands.

That was Gen. Hatcher's opinion, though I don't think he gave any evidence of it.

Yes, I think the Hatcher Factor allows +5% for a small flat point.

I finally found a box full of the flat nosed bullet that is on the right side of your pic. Nowhere on the USCCo box does it say what the weight of the bullet is.
