It's cheaper if you buy in bulk.
I got 1,000 rounds of this from AIM Surplus several years ago. Can't recall how much it was per box, but I'm sure it was less than $20 per, or I wouldn't have bought it. Shoots well in my Walther PP and Savage 1907. "Never part with your weapons when you are in the field. You never know when, on some lengthy plain, you may suddenly need your spear." From the Norse book of wisdom, The Havamal. |

I don't recall the "blitz action trauma" rounds being marketed in the United States in anything other than 9mm, and wasn't aware of this being made in any caliber other than 9mm even in Germany. Unless there are markings to the contrary on the flaps of the boxes not shown, those look like standard RWS .32 auto FMJ rounds and not a "BAT".
By way of comparison, when it was imported and before prices went sky high, 9mm 124gr FMJ Geco rounds from Germany made by the same company regularly sold for $8 a box at Meijers and $6 on sale. (The "BAT" was a copper round with a plastic plug in the tip, meant to be a low penetration round, get around Germany's restrictions on JHP ammo, and function reliably in all autos. It was briefly marketed in the US some 20 years ago in 9mm where it had problems with the distribution and marketing, as well as high prices - 40 some dollars for 50 rds even in 86/87. There was some controvery over allegations that it would penetrate some body armor, so I believe it may have been banned, but I'm not 100 percent on that. The alleged AP abilities were likely a falsehood.) I believe that RWS ammunition is no longer being imported into the United States, and that is a shame as it was very good ammunition, but really isn't that much better than any other FMJ loading (Fiochi's still runs hot and is cheaper than 20 a box last I knew). I would not pay 20 dollars for a box of it, as it isn't offering any real advantage, though I suppose given the value of the dollar and the fact that the stuff is hard to come by, that this wasn't the worst deal imaginable if you just wanted some German ammo to fire in a PP or display with one or some such. |

Thanks for the info guys! The guy in my thread about my Danish PP that told me it was BAT ammo is obviously mistaken. I did think to myself that it looked like ordinary FMJ ammo.
I appreciate your straightening that out. It was $20 incl. tax, so it wasn't too bad. AC |
