Hello, I want to know if I am the only one experiencing trouble with my favorite .22Lr ammo, the CCI Standard velocity. Years I have been very satisfied with them.
But since I have the new darker-blue boxed, I have a few of every box of 50 having an erratic ignition resulting in a black smoke and keyholing. And my overal scores look a bit less too... Am I the only one, having just a bad batch? @nton |

Try a different batch. I've had no problems ever with CCI stuff. Otherwise try a different brand while you're at it.
Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican. |

Anton.
I used it for years in IHMSA,several years ago, after trying every variety in benchrest rifles,I found that Wolf ammo grouped better than anything other than the top of the line Eley(13.50per 50).The last case of Wolf from Champion Shooters Supply was cheaper than the CCI standard.CCI standard velocity was for years mine and my shooting buddie's go to ammo.Over ten 10 shot groups it always had smaller ctc groups than Green Tag.I am sorry to hear that it may be going the way of other U.S. made target ammo. I still have a supply of the older CCI Standard Velocity ammo so I haven't tried the new stuff yet. I truly hope you got a hold of a fluke bad batch and it won't happen again.

There could have been an issue with improper storage/handling during the course of getting the ammunition from the United States to Europe. It's also possible that some batches are considered "export grade" and sent to places where there is an ocean between the customer and the factory. (Such practice isn't unknown in the world of commerce.) In general, quality and reliability of all American made ammunition from the major makers - and seemingly particularly .22LR - has been increasingly problematic owing to demand on the industry from wartime orders and other factors.

Thank you all for the input!
Improper handling crossed my mind too, rimfire primer-compound can losen with rough handling? And, as I think ammo comes by boat to Europe, a damp storage could also be the a reason. Swapping some boxes with friends at the club maybe gives more clues? I sure hope it is just because I got a faulty batch! As I'm one of those people who never changes a winning team until neeeded, Wolf is unknown to me, I'll have a look around! @nton |

Wolf Match Target ammo is loaded for Wolf by the German firm, SKJagd.
So if you can't find Wolf you might just buy some SK. "Never part with your weapons when you are in the field. You never know when, on some lengthy plain, you may suddenly need your spear." From the Norse book of wisdom, The Havamal. |
