If you have other guns to clean, get a kit. For my scadnium, titanium cylinder j frame I have a nylon bristle brush for the cylinders. For the chamber face, a tooth brush. I now use Hoppes elite on the cylinder and outer finish per instructions. I use a brass bore brush, bore jag and patches until the patches come out clean. I use a light coat of slip 2000 EWL for my gun oil, but there are several good products out there. For my stainless steel and blued guns I've used hoppes #9 for years, followed by a light application of gun oil...or wax if gun will be stored long term. For holsters, you will need to shop around...use the search function and you will find someone here was kind enough to list a compilation of holster manufacturers. How do these holsters look? One for competition, would allow use of scope mounted to top rail, and one for everyday carry. They make one to fit a 5" N frame.

For practice ammunition I recommend the 130 grain Federal American Eagle AE48K. Today, I saw it priced at $16 and change a box of 50. I have shot thousands of rounds of it and it is light recoiling, consistent, and does not leave much of a ring in the cylinder. What is there is easy to clean with proper bronze brushes. I used to shoot either Remington or Winchester 130 grain ammo and found it left a very, very hard to clean ring in the cylinder. Besides, you can save the brass for the time you begin reloading! I bought a Blade Tech holster for my TRR8, it is made so you can have the light rail attached but not the sight rail. When buying a holster you need to be aware that the barrel shroud is wider than the frame. I have a Sidearmor holster for a full lugged N frame that my TRR8 will not fit due to the odd shaped shroud. http://www.blade-tech.com/home.php

Thanks for the info. I bought a cheapie nylon holster. At least I'll have something to use at the range. Later I'll get two god ones, one for basic carry with top rail, nothing attached, and one with scope attached.

I bought one several months ago and really love it. I have a reworked Hog Hunter (66) and while the trigger feel is different it is amazingly smooth for a factory gun. My wife got me a set of CTC lazer grips for my birthday in May and that makes shooting it even better. I did find that with an 8 shot gun I really go through the ammo and I started reloading 38s along with my rifle ammo to save cost. I had trouble with CCI primers in light target loads which I made for my wife to use in double action but none with Winchester primers and the same powder loads. I agree with the idea of shooting a box of 357s too at each range visit as it will most definately give you the actual feel for the gun and how it really is. I did notice that when I go to the indoor range in San Diego that everyone stares at the case!
