Corbon also makes a hotrod 140 grain. That one might interest you, Wyatt, as a year round load.

For the 100th time..

K- FRAME S&W's are perfectly safe with factory loaded (store bought!) .357 ammo..

Older Hotloads and some reloads are reputed to cause wear on forcing cones especially when you don't clean your weapon !!

The Internet has kept this going for years..I have owned and been issued M-65's for over 20 yrs without a single issue with anyone of the weapons.
I own a M-19 that shows little or no wear using .357's (6K shot so far )
So I for one have not seen any real proof that the K frame can't shoot mag's..

"Elmer,
I own and shoot several Mdl 19's. One particular I have shot regularly for over 30 years. By regular I'm saying that I hunt with it and shoot practice several times during the year. Since I now have several it does not get as much use as when first purchased and while I was developing my favorite loads. I always shoot magnum loads in it and most of the time it is the Sierra 150 gr HC or the 158 gr. Never had a problem. I believe I understand the concern about the lighter weight bullets in hot magnums. I don't shoot them because I find the 150 gr hollow cavity bullets to perform excellent on game the size of a big deer, or 200-300 pound range. They would also work fine on non-game animals of similar size.

"I wrote the articles on gunblast and if you look in the archives you will find the data I collected from many sources to support the conclusions of the articles. Some photos are included to show the area in question. "

Regarding the potential weakness with the Mdl 19 and similar size S&W magnums, it is the thin section in the lower part of the barrel throat that causes the issue. The flat area is there to permit the cylinder yoke to have necessary clearance. The size of the 19 frame required this modification.

Hope this helps "

WEll,
In my 66, 2 1/2" I only use two loads. Main load is Buffalo Bore .38 Special 158 gr LSWHP +P, hot FBI load. The other is .357 Magnum Winchester 145 gr Silvertip. With these two you really don't need anything else.
