While at Waukesha I picked up some (5) 38/200. The same couple had .38 S&W shot rounds, and I should have grabbed them too. I will get smart next time and if they have them left I will buy them.
Thye usually have the 45/75 ammo I need so i like spending my money with them. Stan |

That sounds like something that would work pretty well on teeny pests - never thought of .38 S&W shot loads. Neat!
Shot-placement is king. Adequate penetration is queen. Everything else is angels dancing on the heads of pins. |

While I was a LEO I loaded Speer caps in .38 special and issued them to our officers for critter control. I used them on rats ,cats, birds and even a skunk. The bigger the animal the more rounds but little chance of over penetration.
As I remember I used 9 shot |

Don't need nothin' special fer shot.
Fust ones I made i pour in a bit of powder, stuff a (square) piece of stiff cardboard down on it with a pencil eraser, pour in some shot (I like #7), cover with some more cardboard and maybe a bit of Elmers glue, and yer in business. Got fancy and bought some gas checks. (Little round metal things for the bullet base, just the right size.) Used them instead of cardboard on a reloading press. So tough they'll roll around in your wheelbarrow all spring and still be good in the fall. How much Bullseye powder? Well, I just kept loadin' more 'till i could tear up a potato or tomato. Wacaser and I kilt over 100 rats one day at the hog farm with them loads. Got pictures, too. |
