I have two boxes of American Eagle 38 Special + P that I bought at least 15 years ago. It is marked AE 38H and is 158 grain Semi-Wadcutter.
I can find no data on this particular ammo and I thought it possible that some of you might have an idea of how hot it was loaded or might have some old Federal data. I would appreciate any info that you might provide. Thanks. |

As you know, American Eagle is Federal's economy brand.
I shot some of your load about 10 years ago and remember it made minor power in a 4" 686, but not by all that much over. The non +P did not make minor power. Should be OK in any modern revolver. Don't remember much else about it. |

Since it's factory ammo I'm sure it is well within the SAAMI specs of the time. Any factory ammo, baring a mistake that requires a recall, is safe to shoot. I'm betting it's no hotter than the current AE +P ammo on the market today. (sorry I couldn't give you numbers you were looking for)
