What I'd like in a .380 would be a hot 100gr TC ball round going about 1000fps,

I think Buffalo Bore has what you're looking for. It's a hard cast flat point at that velocity, which should give you max penetration in the .380 ACP.

I think the bullet profile is still a bit different than the old Geco 9mm Ultra loads. Back in ye olden days, the Germans went with a slightly longer casing to get a bit more velocity out of what amounted to the .380 resulting in the 9x18mm Ultra/Police. I used to have a Walther PP Super so chambered, which was a damn fine little pistol. I'm also a bit concerned about the pressures of the Buffalo Bore ammo. I *think* that it might be possible to build a load that wouldn't exceed standard pressures, but there's probably not enough people who know about the old 9x18mm Ultra to attract much interest.

I got 3 boxes of Cor-Bon 70gr Powerball and 3 boxes of Buffalo Bore 100gr +P LFP. Plan on testing both out in a Ruger LCP, which I hope to get as soon as demand dies down a bit.

It's largely a self effacing tongue in cheek in joke given my frequent expression of a certain amount of dislike for smaller caliber autos as carry guns and the .380 not being my favorite caliber - hence the bag over the head allusion to "hide my shame". My wife keeps the UMC loads on hand for her P3AT, hence "lack of anything better on hand". It was literally the only .380 ammunition on hand other than a supply of Magtech FMJ monopolized by my wife. I have certain reservations about the ability of the UMC JHPs to deliver adequate penetration if they expand. Note that my standards as to what I believe "adequate penetration" to consist of may well exceed those of others.

I'm experimenting with the Bersa for a very limited niche application and it was the cheapest small auto that I had much confidence in (a CZ82/83 is too big/heavy for what I wanted). It isn't as refined as the Sig P232 or Interarms PPK that I had in the past, but is better than my old Llama. I didn't need a .380 badly enough to spring for a PPK or Sig, hence the current Bersa experiment.
