I know the HST has a large, blunt tip. Does the Ranger T-series ammo have a smaller, rounder tip for better feeding?

I hear more customer feedback on HST not feeding in some guns. I have not had any negatives in years with the Ranger T-Series,Frangible, Bonded or regular jhp.

I don't know, but I grease the feed ramp, barrel hood, chamber and breech face on my P3AT. A little grease can only help feeding.

Thanks for the reply guys. After seeing and measuring a couple upclose pictures, I found the Ranger is a better feeder. It has a smaller diameter rim and more curved nose.
It stinks, I think the HST's are the best loads available, but after seeing a couple fail to feeds on my two new nine millies i'll will take the smoother feeding Ranger.

Before you judge anything reliable, or otherwise, make sure those pistols of yours have been through a several hundred round break in with regular cleaning along the way. In my case I mirror polished the feed ramp on my P3AT as part of a fluff and buff. Even after all of that, the Ranger should probably be the best choice. Good luck BTW.

Enid, I'm shooting a new Walther PPS and a used Beretta 92 compact type M.
In my opinion, the PPS has a goofy feed ramp. It's two pieces which isn't out of the ordinary, but the top barrel/ramp has way too much play.
When I took it shooting, the 147gr. FMJ with a truncated cone fed well, but the 147 HST actually caught it's lip between the two ramps.

If it's any help, Chicago PD had problems in their officers' compact service pistols with 147-grain Remington Golden Sabers and early-on productions runs of CCI/Speer 147-grain Gold Dots. It seems that the OAL of some lots of 147-grain service ammo was just a bit too long to reliably feed in compact pistols. CCI/Speer "fixed" the problem for Chicago PD and all went well after that with the compact guns. CPD's range staff told me they never had a problem getting any type of 147-grain jhp to feed reliably through full-sized pistols.

I gave a box of Federal 147-grain HST's to a buddy who wanted to try them in his compact Smith and Wesson M&P pistol. They wouldn't feed reliably in it either. I don't have a compact 9mm, but I can attest that 147's run flawlessly through my full-sized 9mm pistols. YMMV, I guess.
