So, when did the "Super X" ammo of my childhood turn to crap?

Went out with the goils again the other day, and had a real good time. Shot up some cheap soda, apples, and the ever popular eggs.

The only dent in the day, was the constant FTE/FTFs, and cases where there obviously were firing pin hits but no "BANGs" with these:

I took 'em to work and gave them away. It's just not worth the frustration to have to help them clear a shell where the firing pin clearly hit the rim, but no "bang". ("What do you want me to do with these?" My wife was collecting them in her pocket! Eeker )

Seems like the copper clad Federals is what I was using before this box o' Crapola, and they were working fine.

It's just such a disappointment, that when I was a boy ... that logo and that name "Super X" really meant something - it was as good as it got. Now it seems like it's as bad as it gets. Mad

I hate to spoil a good rant, but the XPERT box you show in your picture is the bottom end cheapest Winchester makes.

The Super X line of ammo is separate and still being made.

It seems that Winchester and Remington are both having more than their fair share of QC issues lately.

Don't carry a gun because of what may happen today. Carry because once, just once, and at the least likely time imaginable, you may run into the worst monster you ever could imagine. Be their worst nightmare and resist them with all the stubbornness that our pioneer ancestors posessed. To do less is to be unamerican.

Hey, thanks for the info, AND the link!

I have no problem being corrected/edumucated at all. That's one of the great things about the forum, I'm always learning something. (coulda/shoulda done my own checking first. Now, this is me looking sheepish Red Face )

FWIW, the shells DO have "SuperX" on the bottoms, though ... Confused
