In Liddy's great book he tells about an old FBI gunfighter who loaned him one of his Model 27 Smiths with a 5" barrel. Then Liddy's wife gave him a 3 1/2" version for Christmas. When the old agent saw Liddy shoot his S&W Combat Masterpiece so well, he then asked him if he wanted to grind the front sight off. "Why?", Liddy asked. "So it won't hurt too much when the guy you shoot with it takes it and shoves it up your ***". He then handed liddy his big 357 to try out. Best part of G. Gordon Liddy's book "Will".

I don't know, I rather liked the parts where he'd burn himself with cigarettes and matches, shock himself with electrical cords, etc.

I like where he sat in a tree during a lightening storm and ate a rat to kill two fears with one crazy.

That rat eating part was good but tying himself to the top of a tree during a storm was pretty wild. This guy did his time and never apologized for anything. Good for him.

Among my prized possessions is a First Edition copy of Will, inscribed with "Best wishes to 'jkc', G.Gordon Liddy" Inside the frontispiece is taped a Polaroid photo of the two of us shaking hands (a "photo op" staged at a political fundraising event). He's a gentleman, and down-to-earth. He's also the unfortunately unheralded author of two excellent novels, The Monkey Handlers, and Out of Control, which I commend to forum members who like action/thriller genre fiction.

I too like the parts of the tree and storm along with the rat. As I remember the FBI gave him up to the CIA because he was "a lttle to much" by their standard.

Ten years ago, or so, I was a regular listener to his radio program. His over the top, old-man macho shtick grew a little thin at times, but he was always entertaining. The thing about Liddy though, which even his detractors admit, is that he has a very quick mind, and is pretty well versed in a number of areas. I faxed him a question once during his show, which lead to about a 15 minute response on the logic behind his belief in God. It was extemporaneous, and very impressive. They used to play it on his "best of" shows.
...and he pronounced my name correctly, which puts him in a distinct minority...

Why would anyone mispronounce "Mustang"? Or is the "51" they get wrong?

Nah, "Mustang" is just a pen name. My real name is Dr. Merkwürdigliebe.

Liddy never worked for the CIA, and he barely worked for the FBI. He is what career agents call a "ticket puncher" - a lawyer who stays in the Bureau for a short period, then pulls the pin and goes back to practicing law, with his FBI employment prominently displayed on his resume. He did a short stint in a Resident Agency in Indiana, then supervised a bunch of civil service fingerprint examiners at Headquarters.

When he got out of prison and was being interviewed by WaWa. she just about peeded on herself. I think she thought he would show contrition. Not Hardly. His comment about where he was going absolutely floored her. As I remember "East of the Sun and West of the Moon" or I might have it backwards. He believed right or wrong he was serving the prince, and did the crime? and served the time. Remember anything he could have testified to had already been said. Very Machiavellian to say the least.

Way back when, his radio show was on AM radio while I was in college. I used to listen on my lunch hour. During the "jack booted thug" phase of the RKBA movement (circa 1994ish) Liddy was encouraging his listeners to purchase both an M1 Garand and a 1911. He suggested loading the M1 with M2 (aka "Black Tip") AP rounds in order to shoot through LE body armor (back in the days before the ESAPI and XSAPI plate standards). Failing that, he said to practice aiming for the groin and head so as to better be prepared to kill Federal Agents wearing body armor.
I always found it amusing in recent years when people would take great offense at Bill Mahr or Al Franken's sometimes over the top comments - or even Ice T's long obscure "Cop Killer" song, yet forget Liddy's radio advice regarding weapons and tactics *specifically* for shooting and killing LEOs.
Liddy also had a long standing dislike for correctional officers and bad mouthed and belittled them constantly on his radio show for alleged low intelligence, sadism, brutality, etc.
Interesting guy, seemingly intelligent, and quite interesting, but then so were a lot of my prison pen pals...
For those interested, much of what Liddy did in his youth and writes about would be considered a text book example of pschopathology, which was Bob Woodward's comment at the time as to why "Will" was an interesting book.
The filmed version, now largely forgotten, has an interesting scene where Robert Conrad (TV's rendition of "Pappy" Boyington) sports a mustache and is singing "Horst Wessel Lied" in the prison shower.

Where else, would you shoot someone wearing body armor?

I listen to G. Gordon every nite. Just google him and you'll find the address for a podcast.

Liddy is, of course, a convicted felon, and thus a "prohibited possessor" of firearms. A caller to his radio show once asked him how he would deal with someone attempting to enter his second floor bedroom window. His response was (paraphrasing here...) "I would sieze Mrs. Liddy's .357 Magnum and give her another lesson in marksmanship..." Funny, quick-witted, fast on his feet... Evidently not on the air anymore in this market?

That's funny, ARS section 13 does not allow handguns et al. in a home/dwelling where a convicted felon (who has not had his/her rights restored) also resides. This would be a Cl. 2 felony in AZ, eh? Had a friend with non-violent felonies whose wife & kids also had to give up (all thier firearms for years, until the third petition for restoration was successful.
Just my experience. Maybe Mr. Liddy knows someone...?

Liddy's full of it. He's a convicted felon and he knows it. His guns are long gone, all the talk of keeping them on the wife's side of the bed is brave talk, but hot air. Having a firearm in the house is "constructive possession" and would land him back in the pokey. I think he is a complete ***, but he is moderately intelligent.

I more than agree about the intelligent part, but since I have no idea what his address is, and I've never been to his home, I can't say with any degree of certainty that his guns are long gone, or that Mrs. Liddy doesn't have them on her side of the bed. I don't think anyone else could say for sure either, unless you've been to his house and looked.

I once heard him voice it somewhat like this..
I no longer own any firearms, BUT...Mrs. Liddy has quite a collection."

Inside one of the first few pages of what had to have been an original copy it was that long ago, was quoted a statement to Liddy from Nixon. It was a bit cryptic w/ just one or two lines I believe and referred to "the Plan"?
Could you post that please?
thanks

Well, as long as we’re here, why’d he blast that toilet bowl anyway?! (A fit of pique? Easier than eating than climbing a tree and eating a rat? Because it was there? He thought Jimmy Hoffa was stashed inside?)
