My D.S. is on it's way home....

I was resisting the urge to have my instructor's Detective Special reblued but after some range time it was slightly out of time and there were many light hammer strikes.I also noted 3 areas of rust forming under the grips so the rebluing decision became a moot point.It is now "Python Blue" and the gun was brought back to original operating condition.Thanks to all of you I was introduced to Mr Executioner's artistry and he is making a set of grips with free reign as to material and design.It should be back to my friend's gun shop by Friday and the grips not long to follow.Pics will be soon to follow......God Bless....Mike

Who did the work??? I would expect a smith familiar with Colt innards would be a good number to have on the speed dial.

It went back to Colt for the work.Because of the sentiments associated with this gun I wanted to make sure that the work was done correctly.One friend of mine sent one of his favorite guns to a gunsmith for rebluing and it came out terrible and cost him only a few dollars less than S+W quoted him.When I work @ the range as a RSO or assist in teaching the Pistol safety course I will proudly have this gun on my hip to have just a bit of my friend Abe with me
