Just Love those Marlin 39A's
I recently found and purchased a nice Marlin Golden 39a.
What a beauty and super accurate with open sights.

Great photos!
I've got two. One scoped and one with the original iron sights. Both are tack drivers and both have been 'the ruin of many a poor squirrel'.
They are great rifles.

Just got the 39A mountie,
I think the scope may come off the Mountie.
Both from 1955-57 Era

I have heard that the micro-grove shoots the best with copper plated bullets. I have one too but have always used lead .22's and can't say it is all that accurate. I intend to try the copper plated rounds but wanted to here from fellow 39 A owners. I have a new Leupold to set on this old girl too. These old eyes don't like iron sights anymore.

The mountie has a 20" barrel and straight stock.
They are both 39As, The shorter is the Mountie.

Bought mine new in 1960. Think it cost $70 or 80. Couldn't quess how many rounds have gone down the tube but it still shoots like new,

I was told years ago that a 39 Marlin will not always shoot where you want it to, but you can bet the farm it shot where you held it. I have found that to be true. Larry

Bought a nice used pre cross bolt safty 39A with the intentions of giveing it to my grandson in a few years when he's big enough to handle a full sized rifle. Put a Lyman 66 reciever sight on it and sighted it in for him. Well, I decieded to keep this one (bad grandpa, good gun!) for myself and went out and got him a new Remington number 5! He will just have to wait for this one!

A true work of American art. Fires ANY of the .22 variants (which can be loaded in any sequence/combination). And, it breaks down into two pieces with the turn of a handscrew. What's not to like? Enjoy!
