Kahr CM40 Real World Recoil Opinion?
My LGS has Kahr CM40's and CM9's in stock. I have been looking into them and they sound like nice little pocket pistols. I may be laying down some cash in a couple of days for one but want to know how the recoil is on the 40. I currently have an M&P 40c and also shoot a 642 J-Frame with +P loads. Does it compare to an alloy J-Frame with +P's? I really would like the 40 but also want to be able to shoot the thing.
Thanks for any help.

FWIW I have a CW45. Recoil is stiff but manageable. Probably about on a par with the J frame with +P. I would expect a .40 to act similarly.
I actually like the Kahr quite a lot but after a year and 350 or so rounds I do not find it to be reliable enough for CCW. That means that it has a dubious future as far as I'm concerned.

Don't buy the Kahr if you expect good customer service, it's non existence.

It is still legal in NY. Personnally I think they want to ban ANY ergonomic and reliable gun. I had a Kahr and it was back to the factory in the first month. I got a call from a manager in quality assuarnce to ask WHICH dealer I had purchased the gun from and to apologize saying the gun, advertised NEW, was NOT intended for customer sale and was made of left over parts and got out of the factory after a photo shoot.
This was nearly 10 years ago. They made it right, but frankly, the guns look and feel great, but they are NOT up to Glock or S&W or Sig standards.
Plus, if you tear them down, even though they are steel, the trigger and striker mechanism are NOT all that robust. That is why NYC pulled them from the approved pistol list I think.
I like them and shooting them, but I don't trust them as much as a Glock.

I have an MK40 for daily carry. Recoil is manageable, but this is an all stainless gun. I also have a plastic framed 380 for hot summer weather, the MK recoil is not that much more than the 380 because of the weight. While Kahr does not provide service on par with S&W, it has not been bad.

Well, I went ahead and picked up the CM40. We will see how it shoots tomorrow. I hope I don't regret getting to 40.

I believe Federal has a reduced recoil defense round. Still has more power than a 9mm.
