FN jumps on the promotions bandwagon
I just received an FN 509 Free Gear Promotion in my email. I've attached it bellow. FN magazines aren't cheap, so it looks like a decent deal. But read the fine print. It says in addition to sending in your receipt, you have to send in a copy of page 3 of the 4473!
I don't know about you, but over the last several years, every gun I've purchased has been accomplished with an electronic 4473. I've never received (or thought to ask for) a paper copy. So if you decide to take advantage of FN's offer, make sure your dealer/FFL is able and willing to print a copy of your 4473.

I've never gotten a copy .. or have I been offered one .. Didn't even know you could get one !!
So FFL's is there a "Buyers Copy" of the 4473 ??
From what I found the 4473 E-file isn't available anymore .. As of January 16, 2017 the eForm 4473 is deprecated and no longer available for download from the ATF. This is due to a new version of the ATF Form 4473 being released and a lack of update to the existing software to use the new format.

That is a lot of personal info, and you're just going to mail that to some stranger?

There is none of the customer's personal info on page three... other than my (the FFL) name, signature, title and date, FFL number, shop address, and the firearm info...
Take a look at page three when you get a chance...

I've played with the 509 and really liked it unfortunately I just don't see a reason to buy it. There are a few new handguns out that I've had a chance to see and i liked most of them but to spend money on something I already have (full size handgun) several manufacturers and duplicate models off.....well it seems counterproductive. I think if I were just getting into guns I'd definitely look hard at the 509

I have never had a buyer ask for a copy of the 4473...but don't know why we would have a problem with that if they did.

I always ask for a copy, and have never been refused. The page 3 content identifies the seller, so will confirm that the seller is a store, as opposed to an individual or consignment. I am guessing they want to be sure the deal is given to new gun purchasers?
