Scope and Mount for my Remington 1100

I purchased a minty used 12g 1100 this weekend. I think I got a reasonable deal, it is a 99% receiver, the wood is flawless. (No box/papers/tags) $505 OTD.

The gun came with 4 barrels, Slug, Imp Cyl, Mod and Full. All barrels except the slug are vent rib w/bead sight. The slug barrel is a Hastings Paradox w/rifle sights

Several questions:

1. I would like to mount a scope, to be used to hunt deer in south eastern Ohio. I need recommendations on a mount that will leave no marks, and a good scope that fits the mounts.

I have seen this on ebay...any thoughts?

Will that type of mount scratch the receiver? Is the scope "good enough"? The price seems right.

2. How can I tell which (if any) of the other three barrels came with the gun originally?

3. How do I correctly measure the barrels?

4. What is the best solution for sling swivels?

I would post pictures, but it looks just like any other 1100 Wingmaster. Fancy pressed checkering and engraving on the receiver and bolt.

Your questions in order-

1.Will that type of mount scratch the receiver? Possible, but unlikely if there is no wiggle in it. Dirt and grit under it will scratch if it wiggles.

Is the scope "good enough"? Probably, but I would move up to at least a 3x9 if you take it out west for prairie dogs or squirrel hunt with slugs.

2. Maybe Rem could tell you. If not, date the receiver, and check barrels for a date code.

3. Bolt face to muzzle. I stick a tape down the bore till it touches a locked bolt. CLEAR the gun first.

4. What is the best solution for sling swivels? Put some on.

Factory is best, Uncle Mike makes a kit that is a close second.

I've got one of those mounts for my 870. It holds the scope nice and tight and doesn't seem to have marred my receiver. That said, recoil from a 3.5" turkey load sends it right into my hand no matter how tight it's tucked into my shoulder. Tore the snot out of the last knuckle after just two or three rounds. I haven't used it since.

It also doesn't have *quite* enough clearance to mount a scope on low rings.
