My Old (newer to me) Model 11 made good at the Turkey Shoot Thanksgiving morning.
Local volunteer fire department has a Turkey shoot each year. First time I've been.
Picked up a Model 11 on the internet about a year and a half ago from Maine. 30" Full choke barrel that shoots about like an extra full. I haven't even really patterned it for center of pattern vs point of aim, but said, what the heck, and went anyway. Should be fun, anyway.
So I get up before everyone else in my house to be there at 7 AM. I sign up to shoot for 2 turkeys ($2 each) and 2 hams ($3 each) and wait to shoot.
I wound up #4 shooter and take my place on the line. We shoot the first round and I, like everyone else, is crowded around the table to see who the top shooter was for that round. I see the weeded out cards are all in the teens, so, I guess I missed out this round. Turns out the cards were marked 1-4 for first round-#4 shooter. "#4 is the winner!" WOW! I never win anything. Cool.
Round two. This for a ham this time. Same story, I take my shot and wait. The cards are sorted, "#4 again!" Awesome! I asked the guy "Are you guys gonna let me shoot anymore?" We had good laugh. Then I walked over to the sign up table and told them
to let someone else shoot in my place the next two rounds.
I'm set for Christmas dinners now and have found a fun activity for Thanksgiving morning from now on. I can't wait to take my kids in a few years. There were, at a minimum, three generations of some familes there. It's great to see a family event like this.
