Another Colt New Service 1917 .45
I saw this Colt New Service 1917 a couple weeks ago and fell in lust. I've always liked the looks of a snub Colt ever since setting eyes on Gizamo's Fitz. Well, thinking this was a bit more practical with a full trigger guard and hammer spur, I had to have it.
It's a mid '60s conversion with perfect timing and trigger job. Circa 1919

That is so nice...so vintage...so classic.
I most heartily approve.
I know it is a sin to covet a man's horse...

That's very sharp Mickey D! Gotta like those .45 full moon clips in a big bore snubby Colt!

Congratulations on an excellent find!
What is the barrel length?

She's a real beauty...
But something's missing in the area of the grips...
I wouldn't mind finding one exactly like it. Have you shot yours yet? You'll find that it's a handful.

Whoever did the work, did a very nice job. I'd be in the market for some special grips, but I don't know what. I know I'd have fun looking!

Giz, I just picked it up this past Tuesday. I hope to wring it (or me) out Saturday. I'll let you know.

That is nice, some ivory or stags would look right at home on that.

The latest issue of the NRA's Shooting Illustrated has an article on "Fitz" type cut down Colts and the 45 model has the very same type front sight. There maybe more than one made at the same time or by the same maker. Extremely neat pc. .

I like that one a lot. Is it blued or Parked? I agree with Chromedhearts that a set of stags would be perfect.

I'd be real interested in your range report. There are only a handful of us with these guns and you almost never hear how they handle. I find that mine is pretty snappy with standard ball .45 ACP. I have some older factory Auto Rim and some Auto Rim that I've downloaded abit. Seems to be pretty manageable with that....
Lookin' forward to your impressions....

Looking forward to shooting the big guy.
The barrel is 2 1/2" and the finish is blue.
