Default CF 1911-22?

I saw one of these things today and even though I'm currently in a gun-shedding mode, I was intrigued. It's like a full size 1911, fixed barrel w/o grip safety; 12-round plastic mag. Dealer offered it new for $275; made by "Chippewa Firearms, Dayton OH". It looked to be mostly made of pot metal; probably has some kind on Hi-Point connection, but it sure looked cool. It could be sort of a companion to my el-cheapo Stoeger Luger 22, or one of those plastic AR22's that I'll eventually succumb to. Anyone out there have any experience with these things? Are they as junky as the low price would suggest?

I don't own one, but I did read a very favorable review of this pistol on Gunblast.com. Check it out. I've seen them at gun shows and NIB they go for $300. Take care,

I do own one.
I looked at .22lr kits for my 1911's, they run around the same price range and then found one of the Chiappa's, handled it a bit, did some research and figured 'why not'. Am I pleased? You bet. I had a couple of jams in the first few magazines but after settling in it's proved to be a pretty nice little pistol. Lotta fun, feels much like the real deal, accurate enough for it's intended use and did I mention fun?
The metal construction looked alot like pot metal to me when I first looked at it but it's some kind of different alloy.
I have to admit I really like it, my biggest complaint is that it only comes with one mag, my dealer can't seem to find a supply of extras, and the mags are plastic, so I'm sure will break over time.
I think I'm going to give this to my Mom, she has RA and can't rack a .45 slide anymore but this one is soft enough for her to use as a house gun, not much in .22 but better than fingernails.
