Default Leaving the 1911 at home today

...I can do it! I can do it! I can do it!
I Can Do IT ! I Can Do It ! I Can Do It!

I want to carry my new to me 65-3 today but I been carring a 1911 for a few years now...Kinda like going to work without your belt.
But the 65 is just about the perfect carry revolver...and a good bit smaller then my 686.But it is different and I like routine...

I Can Do It! I Will do it...

OK maybe take both

Take a brown paper lunch bag to breath deeply into, and you'll be fine!
I felt the same way replacing a 1911' with a C/A Bulldog when Nixon was in his second term. So as (BJ) WJC said "I feel your pain".

I went through the same thing almost exactly three years ago. It took a while, feeling naked without the 1911 . . . but my "I'm gonna carry a WHEELGUN FOR A MONTH" experiment was more than successful.

Since that time I bet I haven't carried my 1911s more than ten times total.

At first it was my chopped 25-2 .45ACP N-frame on the colder days, or my M65-3 3" on warmer days.

Then I "discovered" the little J frames after years of ignorance towards them . . . and carried a M36 in a pocket holster.

Then I "discovered" an M37 that is the handiest little pocket rocket around . . . at least for ME.

So hang in there . . . you CAN break the habit. Today my 1911s and little Kel-tecs and such mainly just sit in the safe, and my revolvers are my "go to" guns for self-defense AND hunting needs.

Ok I took both...about lunch time I realized that I didn't load my 65 this morning...so good thing I had the 1911. Tommorrow I will go with the 65 LOADED and no 1911...
These 1911's are addictive (5 in two years) but I love my smiths...I have a J,K and 2 L's...36,65,2 686's one is a no dash...now I need more leather...

Dang, here I am trying out carry my new Kimber Ultra and you guys are downsizing. Oh well, I carry the ole J-frame most of the time anyway. It's the pocket dropper and the 1911 is for cooler weather when I can get away with keeping a light jacket on all the time. Took my Wife to the big city last night for dinner and a play. Kept the Ultra on me the whole time. Hardly noticed it was there. But it was good to know it was.

I do have to figure out how to get that leather on leather "squeak" to stop. The one where the leather of the holster grinds against the leather belt.

Red face My Confession

I dearly love my S&W and Colt and Ruger revolvers and have a safe full of them but...9 times out of 10, I stick one of my 1911's in my holster when going out. My revolvers are mostly for play and looking at these days. I guess I shouldn't mention the Glock 27 in my belt right now...

What the ?????? I was "playing" with one of my 29's and decided to put it on bedstand duty. All was good 'til I got up and made coffee the next morning and asked myself, "What are those six rounds doing on the end-table?" SOA8---I looked at them and realized I had an empty gun by the bed!!!!! Brain is NOW engaged FULLY---not slipping like an old clutch.............Sprefix

Baby steps,
Just try and holster it with the 1911 out of sight.
Baby steps walk about the house with the 65
Baby steps all the way out and back home.
You may be a convert one day! ! !
