Default Award winning CZ rifles, 452 Military Trainer.22 and 527 .223 "Lux"....(pics)

I have mentioned in the past that I have lost my mind over CZ rifles, in the past two years I have bought several of thier 452 .22 rifles (Military Trainer, Mannlicher Carbine and "Scout" youth rifle) and both of the 527 "Lux" centerfire rifles, a 24" .223 rifle and a 7.62 X 39 carbine.

These have been the best rifles I have ever owned, period! Right out of the box the accuracy is far above expectations, 100% reliable. I have had a very pleasant past few weeks using them in competitions, with a fair degree of success.

I went to the Civilian Marksmanship Programs "Eastern Games" held at Camp Butner, N.C., and used my 452 Miltary Trainer in thier Rimfire Sporter Match. The Rimfire Sporter Match is a 60 round, Three Position Match (prone, sitting or kneeling and standing), using sporting type .22 rifles. I placed high enough to win a Silver Marksmanship Medal, missing Gold by four points. That's OK, gives me something to shoot for, Gold at the next CMP Eastern Games...

The CZ 452 Military Trainer has got to be the best value in .22 rifles anywhere, my local gun shop has them in stock for $369.

Pic of the 452 Military Trainer and CMP Marksmanship Medal, target is my ten rounds prone:

Used the same rifle to take First Place in a Rimfire Silhouette Match at my club, took first shooting chickens at 40 yards, pigs at 60 yards, turkeys at 77 yards, and rams at 100 yards, all from the standing position:

Yesterday, shot a 100 yard Benchrest Match with the 527 .223 rifle, on the 20 round match scored a 200-9X, good enough only for third place, first went to a guy with a custom 6MM Benchrest rifle (200-17X), second to a guy with a Remington 700 in .223 (200-12X). All good shooters and handloaders...

The 527's trigger is great, has a set trigger feature that takes a little getting used to, but once you get the hang of it, it is awesome! I put a Refield compact 2x7 variable power scope on it so I can leave the iron sights on it. I have taken the scope of several times, and have never had to re-zero the rifle, the CZ rings are that good. The detachable magazine is a good feature as well, bought a spare to be able to use the rifle (sans scope) at our clubs High Power Rifle Matches. I've gotten to where I can make the required magazine change and get off ten rounds in sixty seconds.

Pic of the 527 and one of my five shot groups from the Benchrest Match. My best group to date using a handload of a Sierra 52 grain BTHP bullet and BLC2 powder is .70 inches:

My next project is to get the 7.62 X 39 carbine to shoot cast lead. Loaded up some 155 grainers from a Lee mold today, I'll try some with 4198, 2400 and Unique powder. More fun to come this week experimenting with that rifle...

So, if you don't have a CZ rifle, save up your Ducats and get one! You won't be disappointed!

Currently have seven CZ rifles. They are every thing described in the above post. They are scary accurate, right out of the box.

Highly recommend them.

I have the CZ Varmint .17 Mach 2. If the wind is not blowing I get 1/2-3/4" groups at 100 yds. If the wind is blowing, The group grows to 2". This rifle has a beautiful stock. I do not think that they make the .17 Mach 2 any more.

A couple of weeks ago I helped a friend get rid of an excessive number of turtles in his pond. We shot them for about 2 hours from a pick nick table over looking the pond.

I let him use my 10/22 that I put a Green Mountain Varmint barrel on. It can put 10 shots into an inch at 100 yds from a rest. We were well equipped for the task.

I like CZ rifles also. I have a 452 American and it's a great gun. I put a 4.5x14 Mueller scope on it. It is the best 22 rifle I have bought. Don

I agree; 452 Americans dominate the Rimfire Sporter completions around here too. I've got a couple of them; took 2nd place with an old Brno M-1 (ZKM451) a few years ago, losing to a 452 American.

LouisianaJoe, that 17M2 452 is one that I covet. I've got an Anschutz 1502 in 17M2 and it's pretty good, but I sure wish I would have got a CZ in 17M2 when they were around. I've also got a Ruger M7717 HRM; that thing is a dog; needs to have its stock free floated and bedded. The CZ's are accurate right out of the box. The trigger on my new 452 could use some work, but that's an easy and cheap fix with a "yo Dave" spring kit, I've been told. There will be more CZ's in my future. -S2

Edited to add some photos from today's range visit with my CZ 452 and Anschutz 1502, along with a couple of Smiths. The rifles were at 50 yds and the handguns at 25 yds. Nothing to brag about, especially that M63...yuck!:
