he has a hellofa flinch when the gun is empty if ya notice... I don't like that he brings the rear of the gun right to his face to check it out a few times but overall he was safer than a lot of adults I see shoot....

Tough one to call,
I thing he is using real down loaded rounds like what i would like to use doing the same thing.
Occasionally you will see a shell eject, But just a foot or so up.
So I would guess that the spring in the gun is a bit too stiff for the loads used....
All in All looks like he is having a great time and is safer than most I saw at a public range I observed the other day which I never goit out of my car, Just drove quietly away....
I think he looked great,
OK, WHOSE kid is it?????

He racks the slide easilly enough so it's probably a low lbs recoil spring along w/reduced recoil ammo.
He appears to have it down pat, yet it made me a little apprehensive watching him run.
At least he wasn't running w/scissors....

Maybe he has it setup that way.
I do this mod on 1911's for top shooters who prefer it .
What it does is,During a match if you have the slide locked back and over insert the mag you can jam it in the gun , or break the tip of the ejector(Does Happen),You modify the slide release so the mag follower can't engage it.

Sorry, I think it's a bit twisted and says more about what Dad wanting to attract attention through his performing kid than anything else. I saw that done before with a 13 yr. old kid competing in IPSC and it was strange then. Sort of like the 12-13 yr. old girl who was going to fly cross-country a few years back and crashed in a storm in Cheyenne.
Some things are just inappropriate. The hid ought to be shooting a .22 rifle with Dad and then going out for a happy meal, not a trick pony on display.

1911
With the tack of lock back and low recoil could be the youngster was shooting a 22 conversion on a 1911 frame?

Interesting video....but it made me a bit apprehensive. We all know just how much attention this requires. One little lapse and you can have an incident. It look like the gun not only wasn't locking back, but racking the slide was extremely easy and the left grip panel appeared to be missing.
Kid did well, but like someone else said, i really didn't like to see him running. Also racking the slide made me just a bit nervous.
I agree, I think at that age I would still have him shooting a single shot .22 rifle.

I agree...he shouldn't be running with a cocked pistol at that age...God forbid if anything went wrong....

I've seen other videos on youtube of young kids shooting big guns, and scares me to think that someone finds it alright. My son is 2 and a half years old and I can't wait for him to be able to start shooting with me, but he is going to start at the bottom and work up as he gets more knowledge and experience with less lethal firearms.
