Put a few rounds through one a while back. Good gun for the money but there may be better options depending on what your looking for.
The gun functioned well. Was very accurate and felt good in my hands.
A little top heavy with a high bore axis resulted in a little more recoil than I would like. Typical Ruger DA/SA trigger that was ok. Not great but ok.
There are many other fine 45ACP guns to choose from. If I was going to carry a big single stack it would be a 1911. A Sig P220 would be good bet too.

Kanewpadle, thank you for the reply. The reason I ask is, I was in a local shop and I seen they had one for a little over 400 NIB. Seemed like a good deal, but I didnt want to pick it up before I got some information on it.
Id like to add a 45acp to my collection, but not looking to spend a serious amount of cash, and then also theres not as many options here in MA due to compliancy.
So I guess Im looking to get the best 'bang' for the buck... .

That sucks!
You live in the very city where S&W guns are made and you can't choose whichever you like.
Just looked at the Mass Gun Compliant List. There are a few other decent gun to choose from in 45 ACP that you might find at a good price.
Rock Island 1911
Glock 21/30
Ruger P90
It's a very short list. Looks like the P345 would be the best bang for the buck unless you can find a deal on a new or used Glock. The Rock Island guns have a decent reputation as well.

I have a 345, its accurate and functions very well.No FTFs or FTEs since I got it.
I like it cause it fits my hand well.A double stack just doesn't work for me.

DA/SA = No Deal for me. An ingenious solution to a non-existent problem.

You can get the P345 here on sale at times for $389 retail. You can find the Rock Island 1911 for $385 retail.
Both are good pistols for the money.

Used glocks are hard to come by and when you do they're like 700 bucks... I'm looking to stay in the 500 and under range. I also took a quick look at the s&w 457.

I like the looks and feel of the gun, never shot one though, so I'm pretty useless as to a real opinion. I have an SR9 that I love, if that helps at all. Thought about getting one myself to use as a truck gun.
