colt single action .32-20
My father gave me a couple dozen old guns when his health started failing him. I placed them in the safe and havn't paid them much attention since. Most of them are .25s and .22s. and mostly rust buckets. Tonight I saw a colt single action .32-20 on television and realized I have one in the safe. The gun is nickel with the double eagle grips. I believe it is in good shape, if I remember correctly it isn't rusted. I checked some prices on the internet and was surprised to see it may be worth something. I will have to get it out tomorrow, I can,t tonight my grandson is asleep in that room. Do you guys know much about these guns?

You might want to check out the Colt Forum. It is very good for all things Colt. Helped me a lot with information regarding my New Service Colt revolver.

Pics please? I used to have a blue/color case hardened SAA in .32-20 WCF, and it was a good shooter. It was made in 1898. I regret getting rid of it.

I remember an article by Skeeter Skelton extolling the virtues of the 32-20 in a Colt SAA. He said he bought his in 1946 when he was discharged from the Marine Corps.

I have a old rebuilt one. It does shoot pretty good. I also own several other colts in .44 special and 45 colt. The .32 wcf feels heavy and cluby compared to them.

Whatever you do, be VERRRRRRY careful when cleaning it up. You can lose hundreds of dollars in value simply by "getting rid of that rust."

I'll take a stab at your value question, with the usual caveats (condition, originality, abuse).
I'd say your bottom end is about a grand, with the top end at who-knows-where.

I finally got a chance to get into the safe tonight. My memory is terrible. My discription of the gun was way off. It turned out to be a blued double action gun with some rust. I looked on the internet and the gun is a Colt army special in .32-20 wcf. I found my camera and ofcourse the battery was dead. I will post a few pictures in a couple of days when I get off shift. Thanks for the help.

Those are still good guns. I have an 5" Official Police in .32-20 and it is a great shooter. The OP is the same gun as the Army Special, with an updated name, as Colt sold a lot more DA revolvers to police than they did to the Army.

Yikes! I retract my previous swag and replace it with a bottom end of $150!

I had a Colt Bisley in .32-20 for a short time. 4-3/4 inch barrel. It had been poorly refinished in a flat black-blue. It shot quite well. As heavy as it was for the power of the round, there wasn't much recoil. Factory ammo was quite mild in the gun.
