No secret that I'm an admirer of the 32 caliber cartridges....

When this gun became available...really didn't have much knowledge about the Model 25's. Quick bit of research turned up that they were made in 25-20 and 32-20 back in the mid 1920's to 30's. There were two versions of the gun. One a shorter carbine in a straight stock, and the other the long-gun version with a plain pistol grip. Both versions are hard to find.

The bluing on this gun is about 90%. There are two cracks in the wrist of the stock. They are still tight, but I am taking the stock to my gunsmith that does repairs of this nature. When he's done, they will dissappear and the finish will be unharmed. The biggest problem with the gun was the crescent butt. Someone decided to have it chromed.... I've already found a replacement for it at under 30 dollars and will simply change it out. If that fit isn't satisfactory...the original will have to be sent out to be stripped at a chrome shop. From there it will be reblued. On the plus side ~ the bore is like new and the gun is in excellent condition mechanically.

These are neat little guns! I've got a 141 in 35 Remington. I love that pump. Had a 121 in 22 LR for a time, but wanted something else more. Came close to buying a somewhat rough model 25 once, but couldn't make myself do it. One day, when money is flowing like water, I will have at least one of each Remington pump rifle.

I think that the buttplate would have originally been case hardened. And these would have been fitted.

Oh Boy Griz; Did you find a keeper. I found one in 25-20 in a shop & bought it for my wife. About 1962 I think. She killed a couple of bucks with that rifle & i did once. Rem. only made them from 1923 to 1936. Mine was # 18xx & about the first one made. 17,000 made.I think. She passed in 1987 & just last year I gave to my daughter. Have a good time with that old Remington it's worth it.

I brought it to the range last Saturday. Wanted to sight it in on a sandbag rest. As a lark, I saw a piece of 2X4 about 10" long lying on the berm. First shot hit it! Then the next 5 in a row did the same. I had two friends with me. They both tried it and hit the target consistently....

My "Pappy" had a Colt Police Positive Special and Model 25 Remington, both in .32-20. Not a bad choice for a night watchman in the 30's and 40's. Shot them both growing up. Can't find reasonably priced ammo for nothing anymore... Great find Brother! Have fun with it!

Nice. I have a model 25, 25-20, that I have had for,decades. Have no idea what it is valued at. Perfect condition except the trooper that originally owned it replaced the forarm with one that he carved. UGH. Looks nice but didn't do anything for the value.

A Remington 25-20 was used in the Young Brothers Massacre in 1932 iirc.

Remington had a platform that still makes a grown man feel like he's holding his High School sweetheart. I have my Dads 12C NRA that dates to 11/28. Thats 1928 for you younguns. Rim or centerfire those guns were like magic.

My first 22LR was a Remington 121.

I always wanted a Remington pump in 35 Rem.
I really liked their take down feature.

Back in the day Winchester was "lever action" and Remington was "pump"

My brother in law has one in 30/06, and his wife has one, the new 760 in 35 Rem.

Both shoot great.

Gun writer Layne Simpson did a test several years ago.

He took 10 Rem 700's and 10 Remington pumps, all in 30/06 and did an accuracy test.

At the end the Pumps outshot the Bolt rifles....

I have a Remington M-25 in 25-20, not near as good as shape as yours, I elected not to try and do any restoring on it. Its a great little shoooter.

I wrote to Remington and got a Manuel for the Gun. Its a good match to my Wincherster M62 and 63.

Hate to resurrect a thread, but I found it while doing a search for the Model 25. I couldn't help but notice mine was the first reply and I was lamenting "the one that got way."
Well, I think I fixed that over the weekend! Found one on gunbroker in Iowa at a decent (to me) price and bit the bullet. Paid for it today and HOPE to see it soon!

I had one in 32-20 myself. Really neat little rifle. I shot an antelope, mule deer, and coyote with mine. Not a powerhouse of a cartridge for deer sized game. In a moment of stupidly I sold mine.

I don't think I have seen any .25-20 Win ammo in many years. But not to despair. .25-20 cases can easily be formed by FL sizing of much more available .32-20 brass. Trick is to find a set of .25-20 dies. It uses .257 bullets, so bullet availability should be OK. I haven't done it personally, but some years back I had a friend who rolled his own .25-20 cartridges using .32-20 cases.
