My Ruger P series collection
Big and clunky but dead reliable. For some reason I’ve developed a passion for these guns. I have the entire series from the P85 to the P345 and everything in between including some oddities and rarities. This picture is older and have collected more since...

Nice collection! A P89DC was my first firearm purchase. Very reliable. Won’t ever sell it even though I’m a Smith guy through and through now.

My first handgun was a Ruger P90. Still have it. I've never carried it, but it was the pistol I used to qualify for my carry license.

I had a P95 that I sold about 17 years ago that I still regret to this day selling. So reliable & so accurate and just a fun gun to shoot. A few have crossed my path, giving me a chance to put one back in my collection, but I never bit the line for some reason.

I had a p85 that rode around in the glove box of my Dodge Diplomat. I never had any issues with it, but sold it when I found out that they would discharge a round when de-cocking. Never had another Ruger semi-auto since (pistol). I did have several Mini-14's and a 10-22.

P95s can be bought at crazy low prices these days. The 95DC we have is very easy to rack, is a soft shooter and goes bang every time. Yes, it does rattle. I'm not sure what kind of composite is used in the frame, but it looks chunky compared to a Glock or M&P. Trust Ruger to overbuild even a plastic gun.

I keep talking myself out of finding a nice P89. I need to stop doing that.

Well, here's the rest of the story on that "issue"....
In the late 1980s Ruger got a report of precisely ONE GUN discharging when de-cocked due to a broken firing pin, and proceeded to recall virtually the entire production run of P-85s for a re-fit of the de-cocking mechanism, and leading to production of the P-85 MKII with the modified mechanism. In fact Ruger will still do the recall work to this day: Ruger - P85™ Product Safety Warning and Recall Notice
Whether this was actually a necessary action on Ruger's part is still a debated subject, but that was at a time when Bill Ruger himself was in charge, and I mean in charge. He wasn't the kind of man to have a single questionable issue on one of his designs, and took action to that end.
I still have a P-89 and a P-95 myself, and that P-95 and I have traveled a lot of miles and rounds together.
Ruger's p-series pistols were (and are) utterly reliable and soft shooting guns.
