Any Beretta 92/96 guys here?
I know it's the S&W forum! I just really didn't want to join the Beretta forums to post one question.
What causes the trigger not to reset on a relatively new 92FS?
I "understand" the mechanics of the trigger but for the life of me can not figure out what is keeping the trigger from fully resetting on my italian made 92FS (2009 model). I have put maybe 300 rounds through it, the issues started after 100 or so rounds. What happens is the trigger doesn't come to the full forward position so that if you pull it it's not engaging the hammer, but if you touch the trigger it will "click" forward and it's good to go.
I checked the trigger spring (even flipped it around since it's reversible) and it does it either direction. Should I be using some lubricant other than CLP on the trigger group? Should I polish any of the surfaces? Or should I just send it back to Pietro?
Thanks in advance!
Brett

I have a 92 that I convert up to a .40S&W ( 96 ) with a seperate slide and barrel. I have fired hundreds of rounds of each through the gun and never had the problem you discribe.
I wish I could be more help. I am a member of the Beretta forum and could ask the question for you if you wish.
I would suggest you put a drop of lube on the trigger pin and see if that helps.

I carried a 92 for years as a duty gun (department-supplied), and own a few that I shoot periodically (including an Italian-made). Like the previous respondent, I have never experienced this problem, so I'm not quite sure what to tell you.

I've searched the net high and low and I also can't find anyone else who has had this issue. I have tried lube on the trigger pin, on the drawbar pin, on the underside of the draw bar where the spring rides, you name it and it still does it.
I may have to contact Beretta and send it in and have them look at it.
LTC if you want to post it on the Beretta forums I'd appreciate it. I just didn't want to have to join the forums to get that questions answered.
Thanks,
Brett

Brett,
Go on the Beretta Forum under Beretta Handguns and look for the 92FS trigger problem thread. Several members have already responded to my inquiry about your trigger problem.

Thanks LTC!
I just decided to join the forums so I can reply. I should have done that to begin with, it's just I'm a member of so many forums as it is and now another one.. Oy it's hard to keep up!
Thanks again!

None of the springs are broken or deformed.

Just wanted to close this out by saying it's fixed, the trigger spring was not correctly installed. (Obviously by me) I looked at the trigger for 10 minutes while playing with the trigger and it hit me, the back leg of the spring should sit on top of the trigger bar post and that's not where it was.
One of those D'oh! moments!
The guys over on the Beretta forums were extremely helpful and helped me figure out what was wrong.

beretta forum
It is one of the better forums. I do not frequent it very much. I have a 92 FS that is nearly ten years old.
It shoots flawlessly and may be my favorite 9 mm. It is accurate and I had a trigger job performed on it. Smooth is the best word I can find to express this gun.

Aside from the fact that I put an additional 300 or more rounds through it with the trigger spring installed incorrectly, yes it's smooth and it's accurate and it's so easy to handle. I've shot the XD and the XDM and a Smith 9mm and I just always liked the way a Beretta felt in my hand.
And compared to a 1911, it's simple! And considering the fact I had the spring in wrong in a simple firearm, I'd probably have the slide on backwards on a 1911
