Default General 1911 Questions

I just picked up a stainless 1911 Pacific Commemorative, but don't have a box for it. First question: any idea what year these were produced? It is marked on the slide "9762 PTO".
Second, I would love to have a box. Any idea if there are any out there and where I might find one?
Thanks, George

George, sounds like you actually have one of the 'nickel 'plated versions of the 1911A1, there was a Pacific , as well as a European version (two) the Pacific case is made to look like 'bamboo'..they pop up from time to time on the various auction sites and we rcently had the "other" one as well as a couple of the WWI 4 gun set, that commemerated 4 of the different WWI battles...........****n an 'ad' in the 'wanted' section of the classifieds, or go to e-bay ,type in Colt boxes/cases, Lord only knows what you'll come up with..... Forgot to add, your gun falls in the range of this 1970 productionissue, and they made about 9960 'guns, but NOT all of them were ever shipped (wonder where the others may be????)the Blue book says there were 11,500 made, but the "
Numbers" do NOT add up..............

Good luck
