If it has an 'April 20, 1915' patent date on it, usually on the side of the frame,,,it's a Stevens mfg'r gun.
They made them with a number of different names on them for different retail outlets.
Seems like 'Ranger' was a house brand name of Sears Roebuck prior to WW2. Might be wrong on the Sears part but 'Ranger' is an often see store brand on early Stevens shotguns and .22 rifles.
Marlin made and marked some that way too, but they didn't make a SxS shotgun other than the LC Smith.
