A Three Pound .410 Shotgun You Don't See Every Day
Well, it feels like three pounds, anyway. This is a Garcia .410 Survival Shotgun. It's not marked that I can see but I found it in an old catalog. You ever run into one of these before?

I saw one many years ago, at least 20 years ago. I wasn't impressed with it.

Got one in the gun room along with the .22 model. Shot the .22 a bunch, but couldn't bring myself to try the .410.

I bought a .410 Bronco when I was just out of high school. Had seen them in the gun mags and decided to buy the first one I saw. One showed up about two months later at the local hardware. It cost $19 back then.
It's my only .410. I have seen reports of reliability problems but mine has worked fine since I bought it.
Much later a friend called and told me a local gun shop had a used .22 Bronco on sale. I hustled down and bought it, paying considerably more than for the .410.
I have killed grouse and a rabbit with the .410 but only shot targets with the .22. My .410 was said to weigh four pounds. It kicks a bit but isn't usually noticed when shooting at clay targets or birds.
I almost bought the .22/410 combination gun on a trip back from downstate. Saw it for $80 in a hardware store in Munising, MI. I was newly married, broke and lacked good judgement at the time. :>) Still kicking myself over that.

Never saw one. Seems interesting.
It's hard to tell from the picture, but is it a single shot?

It's a single shot. When you pull that front "trigger" the barrel rotates for loading. It has a manual extractor. I of course always wished it was a combo .22/410 like ACP230 almost bought. This would be pretty practical slid along the side of a backpack.

I've got two or three of those things somewhere, but I haven't see them in years, they are all short barrels and NFA firearms, I think two are SBS's and one is without a stock and registered as an AOW, if memory serves. I know there are all NIB guns.
Any idea what the things are worth?

Interesting! I always liked the .410 as an all around utility gun, next to a .22 you find more uses for the things then one can shake a stick at.

They are interesting. The stocks have a tendency to crack right behind the pistol grip on the 410. Of course given that I live in Ohio I would not be surprised if the ones I saw were cracked from people shooting slugs through them poaching deer.

Had a 22/410 that I used for backpacking because of the light weight. Still have one in 22 and find it easy to carry "out and about" when not wearing a pistol.
None of the ones I've seen are NFA firearms but I remember reading way back that they were designed after a old "bicycle gun" which may be where the NFA classification ones came from -

I used to have one. I don't remember what I did with it, so either one of my brothers snagged it, I still have it somewhere, or I left it behind the seat of a truck I sold.
The first time I shot it that metal stock whacked me in the cheekbone and gave me a nice bruise. It seemed like a great gun for ditch shooting pheasants but I never saw much other use for it.

I had one and no more. I liked it and had no problems. It was the first termite-proof firearm that I owned.

I still have one knocking around here somewhere. Bought it in the late '60s just because it was so different looking. Wish I would have picked up one of the .22s too.

Yeah; I remember those Garcia guns. Not too well made & subject to breakage but were popular for a while. I'll stay with my Stevens 22-410.

Reminds me of the old Quackenbush rifles.
