Default I just bought a used Colt MK IV series 80 "Officers" model in .45 ACP .

I just bought a used Colt MK IV series 80 "Officers" model in .45 ACP .

It's all Satin Nickel and for a 25 year old gun is in great shape.

It has wooden grips and someone added a ambi safety (which I need) to it.

We took it completely apart in the store & wiped it down (it was already cleaned) and lubed the slide & rails.

I bought it for $510.

It only has one mag & no box or papers.

I can't wait to shoot it this weekend.

Well here are the details of the gun.

I went back to my shop and the gunsmith and I looked up all the details in the Gun Bible.

My new Colt Officers Model 1911 in .45 Cal.was made in 1985.

The finish is a Satin Nickel finish

It has Millett Series 100 Custom Combat Low-Profile Sights installed.

It has a Videcki Custom Trigger installed - it's a 3 hole trigger w/ over travel screw .

We can't tell what brand Ambidextrous safety is installed .. the safety's finish is either chrome or shiny Nickel.

I took it to the range and put a quick 100 rounds through it.

The gun shoots better than I do.

I'm a lefty so other than a couple of fliers - I'm consistently stabbing at the trigger making me shoot just a tad low and right.

For my age - that's good enough

Man I like this gun.

Congrats. I ran into someone last week who was also fortunate enough to pick up a Colt Officer for around the same price. His looked parkerized, and the grips were textured. Curious as to the specifications for these guns. What is the barrel length and weight?

All you need to do is drift that nice rear sight a little to the left, and you will be shooting to point of aim.

Beautiful 'little' 1911; great price for it

Good price on a nice gun. 10 -12 yrs. ago I was paying $400-$460 for the same type. I'd say you saved yourself $200-$250. Locktight the overtravel screw so it doesn't adjust itself into non function at the wrong time. Sometimes these guns can have feed issues. I've had a couple that refused to be reliable, even after repairs and tuning. Shoot it a bunch before you rely on it. Wolfe recommends recoil spring replacement every 300 rds.. Above all make sure homemade trigger job was not done. I always felt 4.5 lb. trigger was lightest safe pull for this gun. Unless you have long fingers you might be better off with a short trigger. Don't be tempted to modify the frame for stuff like lowering, flaring, ejection port, extended grip safety, etc.. There aren't many untouched Officers around.
