PRICE CHECK. Colt 22Cal S.A. FRONTIER SCOUT
Anybody got any idea what these are going for? I'm a S & W man don't know much about Colts.
I'm going to look at tommorrow. The guy that is selling is it a friend of my Cousin. My Cousin said it's 90% or better.
Nickle Plated, Walnut stocks.
Anything I need to look at /for that'll affect the value?
I think the guy is asking around $200 for it.

There was one in the local gun shop a while back. Went for $395 I think. It was a blued model & in real good condition.

I paid $400.00 for this one last summer I guess it was.
You can check the S/N on Proofhouse to get an idea when they were made. This one is a 1967 model. They're not safe with six loaded for carry of course.
Truthfully, if I wanted the gun to shoot, I'd get a Ruger. I wanted a Colt simply because it's a Colt. I have fired it, and it shoots fine, it just feels real light...aluminum frame and all.
Colt did make a steel frame 22 single action, but I don't think they were called "Frontier Scouts." They are much nicer guns. Or at least they feel nicer to me. I had one and traded it off (insert headbanger emoticon here).

Cajunbass, wow, you got a great deal on that set! I ususally see these guns at $500+... In the condition of your gun, plus the complete box goodies, I'd say closer to $600. I've got a Buntline, in the box, case hardened frame, and really like it. It's not a convertible, just .22 lr.
I agree that I prefer the all steel frame guns (there is a .22 Peacemaker that has the steel frame), but I still like the New Frontier; maybe it's the longer barrel of the Buntline. Plus, for shooting, I like that the New Frontiers have adjustable sights, compared to the trench sight on the Peacemakers.
I passed on a LNIB .22 Peacemaker a couple of years ago, and yes, I am still kicking myself on that one. I did just pick up a stainless steel Ruger Single Six, with the 4 5/8" barrel. I really like this gun, but have not figured out how to get good accuracy out of it, yet...
OP, for $200, it sounds like a good deal, even if it's just a shooter... Condition, and any after factory modifications are the things that will affect value. If it's truly 90%, then $200 is a fair price. If you like the piece grab it.

So they are made out of an Alloy? Instead of steel....
Interesting..... May see how low they'd go........
Not even real sure now what caliber it's in.....
Got a couple of K-22's sitting in the safe. May let this one pass.

Yes, it's very common for these .22s to have alloy frames; light and handy tends to be desired characteristic in this type of gun. Colt, Ruger, and S&W (to a lesser degree) all used alloy frames in many of their .22s (not the K-17s...). The blued Ruger Single Six and Bear Cats have alloy frames. Nothing wrong with them, in fact many people prefer them. I personally, tend to like all steel frame guns, that's why I got the stainless steel Single Six (all stainless steel gun). And again, I really like my New Frontier Buntline.

I'd be tempted hard for a nickled Frontier Scout for $200.00, even though I'm sort of heavy on 22 single actions right now. In addition to the Colt, I've got two old model Ruger SS's, one New Model and a Bearcat.
The blued Rugers have a steel frame, but the grip frame is aluminum. The stainless guns are all steel.
I got this pair of Old Model Rugers within a few weeks of each other over the summer. Both made in 1958, one has a 5 digit SN and has been converted to a transfer bar syster (the rear one). The other has a 6 digit S/N and has not been converted. I paid $250.00 each for them.
The Colt is pretty much a safe queen. The Rugers get shot.

Hi, Even if it's 80% you'll still steal it for $200.
Great guns they aren't making anymore!
Pay no attention to worrying about alloy.
It's a COLT and collectable and shootable!
Good luck!

I dunno much about them, but I can't imagine it would be a bad deal at $200. Think about it, what the hell else can you buy that's worth a damn for two hundred bucks?

They were alloy frames or steel frames depending on the serial number prefix or suffix, can't remember. But mine spells C..O..L..T when you cock the hammer even though it's an alloy frame.

I bought this Frontier Scout a couple of years back for $350. No box, but it had never been fired.
I bought it to give to my youngest when he graduates high school, he was in the 6th grade when I bought it. I've got it stuck in the back of the vault until then.

I was glancing over my favorite shops online listing of used guns this morning and noticed they have a nickled Colt Frontier Scout, 4 3/4" barrel, excellent condition...asking price, $699.99. No mention of a box or anything. Now I'm sure they'd take less, but that's the price they have on the one they've got.
