Opinion on a Colt, please...
Local gun shop stop the other day netted no S&W's of interest, but something did catch my eye - a Colt Cobra 2" in .38 Sp with a Colt factory hammer shroud. Not sure of the age, but no shroud on the ejector rod, and fully checkered stocks (not wood, I think) with silver Colt medallions. Very good condition, seems to be a really neat (and light) revolver. $385.00...your thoughts/opinions?

I have an Agent, which is basically the same gun, The lack of an ejector shroud indicates an older gun, prior to about 1970 or so. Mine has both shrouds and dates to about 1975. Not significantly bigger than a J frame, but has an extra shot. What's not to like? The price is a pretty fair one as these have been out of production for a while.

Thats a good price and well worth buying. However there a few good Colt smiths out there and they are very hard and expensive to repair. Make sure its in good mechanical condition before you buy. I have a 1967 vintage Agent that I like.

In very good condition, that is a very good price. I'd jump all over it, if you want/need the gun. The Colt Cobra is a great gun...

Like this? They don't make them anymore. Weigh less than a Chiefs 36 and carry an extra round. Trust the previous advice and don't look back.

I also have the same model. It has been a great pistol for carry. I would jump on it.

BUY IT! I already have an old model Detective Special and an Agent. And the local gun dealer just called and told me that a Cobra showed up yesterday! Looks like my retirement is gonna be expensive!@@

If it's all original it could be a 50's Cobra with a "long frame". Grips would be Coltwood (plastic). If hammer shrould is orig. Colt with Pony on it that adds maybe $100+ to value. Most important is "lock up". Check lockup well, or it's gonna take a trip to the factory. IMHO. I've got 2 Cobras, different issues, and 1 Det Spec.. My carry favorites.
