Nice knife!
(I bet fellows cutting themselves with new knives is not all that unusual.... Not that it ever happened to ME, of course! )

People often argue over how sharp an knife should be. Paper cutting sharp? Hair shaving sharp? etc. How about "Cutting Swissman" sharp?
Wild knife! Great pictures as always.

Hello Hobbyist, maybe this helps you... The name of this one-hand-folder is Tanbo.
Length of the blade is 2.75". It's made out of stainless VG-10 steel.

Well so much for instructional CD's! Actually I like the Swiss made Luger much better than either knife. Thanks for sharing the photos.

This should become part of your legend for the Kershaw "It never gets closed before being blooded."

Those Kershaw's are nice knives. I found one last Winter at my rifle range, laying in the mud after some snow had melted. I posted a "Found" ad on our clubs e-mail list, and the owner identified and claimed it. He had lost it months prior, long before the snow, it had sat in the mud and snow for at least three months, and there was not a spot of rust on it, still sharp and ready for use.

Don't feel like you are the first to "test" a new knife.
True record of a phone conversation with a friend about 2 A.M. sometime in December, 1968. The important thing to remember is that, when this happened, he still lived with his folks.
"Charlie, how long does it take to bleed to death?"
" Depends, I guess. Er, is there some reason you're asking?"
" I just dropped my Gerber Mk II on my thigh and the blade went in about an inch. There sure is a lot of blood."
"What have you done for it?"
" I put a drop cloth down over the carpet and I put my pancho over my bed with some newspapers. I don't think any blood got to the matress. I'm worried about the bathroom. There's some blood on the grout; do you think bleach will take it out? Oh, and I cleaned the blade and sprayed it with WD 40."
"No, I mean about the hole in your leg."
"I wrapped a t-shirt around it. If I can't get rid of all this blood, my Mom will kill me anyway."
You have to have your priorities.
About twenty years ago, I listened to him tell some cock and bull story to his then 10 year old son about the "industrial accident" that gave him that two inch scar on his leg. I was hard to keep a straight face, but I managed.
Very cool knives, especially the Rube Goldberg thing.

I just watched the "Training Video" on these. (Google Kershaw ET and look for the YouTube clip)
My, My. I can see several ways to slice various parts of your anatomy if you're not careful.

Perhaps the DVD wasn't quite so "unnecessary." Don't get a Red Ryder, you could put your eye out!

Obviously, there should have been a warning on the handle at least 10 mm high reading "Do not attempt to open before viewing the supplied video." Some lawyer really screwed up.

I liked the bit in the video about using your thumb on the toggle at the rear to close the blade. "Rapidly move your thumb out of the way of the blade"

Swissman, I enjoy your posts. Especially the detailed posts about the national shooting competitions. In fact, if Switzerland allowed tourists to shoot in the competitions, I would renew my passport and come visit. Does Switzerland allow tourists to participate?
I would never bust your chops, that is, engage in mockery.

The Kershaw seems to be a knife made for men who like gadgets and "high tech" for its own sake.
I do own a Kershaw, but it's a conventional drop-point blade, half serrated. Model 1550ST, an assisted opening knife designed by Ken Onion. VIDEO: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EPNdKWfJ3qM&feature=fvw I quit carrying it, because I was afraid that it'd open at a wrong moment. But I keep it handy in a bookcase in the living room, for when I want to cut something and may not have a knife on me.
It's good quality, but I think it's a little dangerous to carry, unless maybe in a pouch on the belt.
That's a nice example of the 06/29 Luger! But I think the toggle action is best applied to it, not to knives.
Are switchblades and one-handed opening knives legal for carry in Switzerland?

If our friend Swissman is not a Purdue man, he may not be up on the Rube Goldberg thing, but perhaps he can interpolate for an educated guess.
I happen to like the Luger a good deal more than either of the knives, too. I'm not sure I would even attempt to use that Kershaw - with or without video.

I thought, that this thread will make someones day.
Let me say some things clear. I DO like both of this knives. The mechanism of the Kershaw is great,
maybe a bit uncommon, but great. The knife is strong and big enough to do real work.
Awkward people can put down any good product. Wether it's a Kershaw-knife or a Toyota-automobil.
You all can't imagine what I must listen from my buddys here in Switzerland, abut this little accident.

Years ago there was a description of the 06/29 Luger in one of the Luger books; "It looks like someone wanted to make a Luger but mislaid the plans".

Ouch!
Nice knives! That's the first I've seen of the Kershaw toggle. I noticed on the video they said, “Remember to keep all fingers clear of the blade path”. Probably a good idea!

Swissman, you crack me up!
Great post with great photos. I am sorry that you got yourself cut, but your lead in to the bloody picture was perfect. Looks like those pesky liability lawyers got one right!
Very nice knives.
