The video's are pretty cool, but I would guess that being there to experience it live was a whole 'nother level.

Nothing. The subject title was intended as a joke. That's why he put the wide grin icon on the post. If he had been reporting someone blowing up their gun the grin wouldn't have been there. no one laughs about that stuff.
If i seem to know a lot about the intent of the OP, it's only because I know him. I must know half of the 45-70's on the internet. ldp is just one of them.

If your video camera is close enough to almost get hit by shrapnel, it may be too close. 
BTW, I use avast too, and had no problems....
