Maybe so - but sure is comforting when you are in grizzly country (my neck of the woods).

I felt great about mine a few weeks ago while hikeing around WY, ND, SD and ID. It was in a DeSantis 016 carried cross draw and never felt "out of Place" while hiking around Wyo-man's neck of the woods.

They're ugly, heavy, and about the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Full-house .454Casull loads!

A 2.75 lb, 6 shot snubbie.

Your just jealous. You know you want one. What's ugly about it?

Sounds like a guy I work with at the Fire Department. Huge, heavy, not so good looking, but when the chips are down you want him around.

Ugly is subjective. Yes, compared to a Mod. 29, the Alaskan is butt-ugly. However, compared to a Glock, it doesn't look so bad.

Now, you want ugly, look at any Charter Arms gun, or a Taurus Judge if you want to see un-balanced!

Either way, the Alaskan in big bear country or the Judge in snake country would feel kind of comforting.

Now there is a difference between perceived looks and junk.
