Default Colt DS question

I had the great pleasure today of firing my friends' 1934 mint DS that he plans to carry for CCW once he is authorized....I must say, after firing 50 rounds with it, I fell in love...rapid fire point shooting was a dream...but I digress....anyway, I cleaned it for him and took out the crane release screw and figured it was just like the Smith...wrong....I eventually got it back in aligned with the pin but I can't remember how I did it...what is the correct procedure so the pin aligns with the set screw? Rimfired, I am counting on you!

If I don't find a job soon I may have to sell you my pristine DS that you have been lusting after. Then I will reveal the secret.

Sip; All I can offer is that you have to hold your mouth right. I've not figured out a graceful way to replace the crane lock and crane lock screw into position in the pre-war Colts. I get 'em in but feel awkward about doing it. I think it calls for a third hand and I've not grown one of those yet.

I still carry my 1968 Cobra loaded with Federal Nyclads. The only addition was a Tyler T Grip. Purchased it new for $85 at the start of my LE career and it still shoots great.

There are no aftermarket rubber for the 34Moon...so I convinced my friend to get used to the pachmyer insert...it looks really cool too....we are going to get him some tennis tape or bike tube to wrap around it for shooting....or maybe a shooting glove....
