Painted My 1911
I always thought guns should be black or nickle, but the old Springfield 1911 was getting a little worn. Got some Brownell's Aluma Hyde II and had my buddy bead blast the old finish off. This is how it turned out. Brownell's calls the green color Coyote, but it looks like OD green to me. the tan is Desert Tan, and looks like it should. Overall I'm happy with it. Now to shoot it and see how it holds up.

Looks pretty cool Tom. Was there any surface prep other than the bead blast?

Looks great!. I am sure you know, that Aluma Hyde continues to cure for several days/weeks. Be kind to it for a few days and the finish will hold up very well. A friend of mine runs a LGS and builds AR's and such. He uses a lot of that paint.

Thanks for the compliments. Surface prep, after it was blasted, consisted of spraying some degreaser over all the parts. It took about 1 1/2 weeks for it to cure to where I thought it was reaady for assembly. I was like a kid before Christmas, kept looking at the pieces and feeling to see how the finish was curing. Couldn't wait to put it together.
