Question marlin 120 shotgun forend liner assembly ?

This is certainly not a Smith and Wesson product but I am in search of a fore-end liner assembly for a Marlin 120 shotgun or a Glenfield 778 . this is a 12 gauge pump. The liner assembly has the twin action bars attached to a collar that is attached to a tube that rides inside the wooden forend. If any one has one or a real beat shotgun or part of one let me know.

Hoosier Gun Works has a very few 120 parts.
Scroll down to the bottom of the page for the Mod120 listing.
Hoosier Gun Works : Online Catalog : Gun Parts : Marlin

They list a 'forearm tube assembly' for $15
Is that the same part perhaps?

They also list the 'magazine tube' itself, so I'm assuming it's different from that..

Only one available!

There is also a Marlin Owner's Forum. I had to run down a magazine for my goose gun a couple of years ago.

Smile regarding source for marlin 120 parts

I just want to say "thank you" to 2152hq and sar4937 for replying to my query. I will call the sources you both listed tomorrow. Its nice to get an answer. Sometimes on a forum large numbers of person will view without even getting curious and it makes me wonder sometimes. I visit another forum where they claim to be a cut above or on a "higher plane" and if your not slamming somebody or asking about a 1911 you may not get any viewings. Thanks again and I hope everyone had a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all reading this.

I apologize if I seem like Im slamming others as it is not my intent but there is a big world out there when it comes to all the different fascets of collecting and shooting firearms. Thanks again.

Smile Thanks again for helping out re: Marlin 120

Thanks again 2152 I received the part from Hoosier. It looks good and may have been professionally repaired properly but that doesnt matter as long as it works reliably and keeps working. This will allow me to get this shotgun back together after almost 10 years of being out of commission. Happy New Year and good shooting!

Good the hear that it's going to be back in action.
They are decent shotguns that just never seemed to catch any attention from the buying public.
I worked at Marlin in the repair dept when they were first intoduced and we all thought they were a nice design. I wasn't around there long enough to see what type of problems if any, evolved with them (there are always a few it seems with any design though).

It reminded me of the Model 12 Winchester when handling & shooting it. Maybe that was the problem,,there was/is always a good supply of the Winchester product around and that's were people usually end up spending their money.

Smile reply to 2152

I had read some marketing or sales literature somewhere about the 120 and it said that Marlins idea was to offer a shotgun that resembled and perhaps handled like the Model 12 Winchester. I myself do also own a model 12 in 16 gauge. I also have a 120 and the of course the soon to be working glenfield 778.

While reassembling it however I discovered I had lost one of the trigger assembly retaining pins so I will have to wait for one to come in the mail. No big deal.

I have a cataloge from 1983 which was the last year it was offered. I bought the Glenfield at k-mart at a close-out price of $125 .

....I bought the Glenfield at k-mart at a close-out price of $125 ....

Can't beat that!

They were going to offer the 120 with some unGodly long Bbl back then. IIRC either a 36" or a 40" barrel. They thought their long barreled bolt action Goose Gun was some sort of a sparkling market success and the 120 would have a crossover following there.
The Goose Gun bbl blanks were to be modified and used on the 120.
I don't know if that one ever made the catalogs.

They did some strange things there....
R&D had too much time on it's hands I think.
