Lots of choices here at lots of price points. On the lower end is the CZ line. Nice functional guns. Not "real" case colors, but cyanide.
Moving up the scale are the Spanish guns like AyA, Arrietta, Grolla. Tony Galazan at Connecticut Shotgun Mfg. has made the RBL in a number of different gauges in this range. Fausti makes some in this price range.
Then you get to the various Italian and English makers which can run on up there.
The best deal out there right now is the discontinued Smith and Wesson Elite, which was made in Turkey. These have actual bone charcoal case hardening which is not common at all in the price range. They are also a true round action (trigger plate action) like the Dickson and the McKay Brown--really neat stuff.
I've seen them and if I had the money right now I'd get one. It's an awfully nicely done up shotgun.
CDNN has them for $1090.00, in straight grip, Prince of Wales grip, single or double trigger. Full S&W lifetime warranty. You can't get near the quality in a new gun for that much money anywhere else. I think it's a screamin' deal.
If you are willing to go used, there are also good buys on the Belgian "guild" guns, and English boxlocks, some of which are in great shape and are terrific guns. If you don't know a bit about doubles, it's best to have someone inspect these before you commit. Belgium made some really ****** guns but also many that are as good as any made anywhere.
Edit to say I just noticed the hammer part--if you want a hammer gun Andy is right--there are also Belgian and English hammer guns on the used market for less than 1k--of course the colors will be mostly gone on these older guns.
