Default Dan Wesson Question ???

Looking for a little help from the members on a Dan Wesson what I beleive to be a model 715. I understand from many internet searches that the company had a rather bumpy history and was curious if a production date could be realizied from the serial number? Serial # 357 - S001XXX. Any idea to what it might be worth would be appreciated also, I've had it for a few years and it shoots and looks good with some minor scratches here and there but overall I would say 90% +

My guess is that is a Norwich gun (check the side plate to see where it is made). If so it is a modern gun made by Bob Serva after he bought the company. Excellent quality. I have a 722 that is from Norwich and every other one I have seen or handled was near perfect.

DW's are not worth much. They don't have a collector "value" so I would say your kit is in the 500$ range.

Side plate says Wesson Firearms Palmer, Mass along with the serial number info from above. I know the company bounced around alot and was curious if they maintained production dates related to SR #'s like S&W does? Thanks Peter for the help and anything other you might be able to provide. JIO

Call DW. Leave a message with your phone, they will call you back. They are extremely nice and helpful.

How many barrels does it have? Is it for sure the M 715 357 Mag? Is it the complete pistol pack with 4 barrels..

No it only has the 6 inch and 4 barrels but the curious thing is the pack still has the 2 inch and 6 inch foam cutouts in place? Kind of like they were never there to begin with? I would assume if it came with the 8 inch barrel it would have occupied the main cutout attached to the gun. I'll give them a call when able to see if they can ID the production date and appreciate your input. Man this is a great forum!!! JIO

The reason I asked is if it had the extra barrels it would be worth much more. They are excellent guns. The MSRP back when they made the kit was over $1500.

In fact, they are again making the revolver, it is in the 2011 catalog or on the web site.

My understanding is that all production records for Dan Wesson arms have been lost (or turned over to the BATF more likely). Apparently the only records that exist are some very loose ones someone on the Dan Wesson forum has put together by using known date of purchase from members guns.

Again, my understaing is that they started manufacture in Monson, Mass, then moved to Norwich, Conn, before finally going to Palmer, NY. I have no idea how accurate that information is, it's just what I seem to remember reading on the forum. (I don't have a link, but a search should turn it up.)

The kit you have may have never had but the two barrels. They did offer them in both two and four barrel sets. Most likely they used the same foam cutout for both.

I've got a 6" blue, Monson gun in 22LR. S/N is in the 20XXX range. It's big and heavy for 22, but will shoot the lights out.

Most DW's I see at my favorite shop are tagged in the $350-450 range. The pistol pacs with all the parts and pieces bring more of course.
