"Guns, Knives, And Cold Beer". I Love This Place!
How's this for a politically incorrect place. Inside, it has a long beer bar on the left and a gun counter in the back. On the shelf behind the bar are boxes ans boxes of ammo. And the selection tells me savvy oldtimers must buy their store bought ammo there. 7MM Mauser, .32 Winchester, .35 Remington, 44-40, 38 Long Colt, plus the usual stuff. This is in Sonora, Ca.

Too late. The place was closed down and the owners sent to the granola mines outside San Francisco for sensitivity training! Now it's a medical merwanna hof brau.

There's a party store in the next town over from me that sells alchol, tobacco, and firearms. It also sells fishing and archery gear and hunting clothes.
It has brought several S&Ws into the state for me.

There used to be a store in Green River, WY that was a liquor store (with a drive up window), a drug store and a gun store all in one. What a great place that was! It was a good gun store too. You could ask for about anything that wasn't under the glass and chances were the owner would have one in the back room. Only place I ever knew of where you could get your guns, your drugs and your alcohol all in one stop. Unfortunately, the owner ran into some problems with ATF and, alas, it is no more.

I remember being in Green River in 1979 sitting against my backpack hitching a ride with a freind. I was reading a book on Butch Cassidy and they mentioned the wild bunch riding into Green river to sell stolen stock. It was great because I realized I was sitting exactly where they would of rode past eighty years before. I think those were the Henry Mts. behind me which were in the book, too.

In Vermont last year, I stopped at a Grocery, Deli, Liquor Store, gun/ammo shop, deer weigh in station, smoke house and butcher shop. Everything a hunter could need, before, during and after the hunt.

I was stationed in Green River and the Justice of the Peace and I had been to coffee on evening.
A car load of kids peeled out from that drive up window. I stopped them and arrested them for Minor in Possession. Put the evidence in the Judges lap.
Next day the driver's Dad came to court and told the JP the kids din't know about that beer. It had been in the car for over a month, and that I was a liar.
Kid got a $50 fine and the old man got 30 days for perjury.
Them was the good old days.

Singleton's
Singleton's General Store, Proctorsville, VT
Not to mention they have a wonderful collection of over 100 Winchester Rifles that go around the whole store, and fine selection of single barrel Bourbons to go with the maple garlic jerky, smoked peperoni, and the cob smoked bacon is to die for.

That "cob smoked bacon" sounds great. I wish they shipped mail order.

There's a "general" or hardware store in downtown Moab, Utah, which stocks, along with all kinds of stuff, ammo, some of it in nearly obsolete configurations. A plaque above the cash register counter reads: "If we don't have it, you don't need it."

Nice. There was a place in Flagstaff, AZ called 'Ruffs guns and Liquor' ... I love places like that.
